I'm fun loving, relatively fit (a continuing project) and intelligent... well, at least smart enough to recognize how little I know.
I can chuckle at just about anything (myself included) but I reserve my all out laughs for humour that shows imagination and thought. As for my personality, I like it... which is a good thing as it is the only one I got. I'm practical, imaginative, curious, honest, loyal, dependable... I believe in the golden rule... treating people how I want to be treated, thus I respect other's peoples thoughts and beliefs.
As for fun, I'm pretty much open to anything. I like to try new experiences and learn new things. I've taken courses in, photography, painting, drawing, cooking, ballroom dance, and pottery (I feel like I'm forgetting something..) I also love getting out to listen to music, see plays, visit art galleries and attend the various festivals. You never know what's going turn out to be a passion so why limit yourself (ok, there are some limits...I'm pretty sure I'll never try eating grubs).
As for physical activities, again I'm open... I enjoy playing any sport, even though my abilities may be lacking. I really enjoy hiking... there is something spiritual about hiking through a lush forest. The smells, sounds and the light filtered through the leaves is very refreshing.
I have also come to realize travelling is quite important to me. Experiencing different cultures and walking through places of history have given me a greater appreciation for other cultures and for our own Canadian one. And there are so many cool things out there!!
I've managed to get to Turkey, Spain, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Eritrea. I also lived in Nicaragua for over three years, an amazing experience. I learned a lot about myself while immersed their culture.... one of the main things being, I'm very happy to be canadian!
And where to go next? Hmmm... easier to say where not to go... there are a few places where the political tensions make it too dangerous, but otherwise, everywhere else is on my list. I certainly have to wander Europe more, Australia, Southeast Asia, the Carribean, South America... I'm open to recommendations!
As for who I am looking for? Difficult to express... It boils down to someone who is happy to have me share their life... the ups and downs. And in turn, someone who is interested and excited in sharing my life as well. She wants to get out and experience new things while continuing to enjoy the things that are important to her.
I would be thrilled to find someone that enjoys going for a hike on a forest trail, soaking up the peace and tranquility as we walk and talk about anything that comes to mind.... or just silently enjoying the presence of each other.
Ok, that's the end goal... to get there is certainly a process that starts in friendship and may develop over time. But that's a lot of the fun, to see how a relationship evolves and appreciate it no matter where it ends up.
Alrighty, if you've actually made it this far then I hope I have piqued your interest, but if not, then I wish you the best of luck.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
First date would be low stress... a coffee (or hot chocolate in my case) or lunch and if all goes well then maybe a walk on the riverbank... or maybe a little skating.
