Crazy how you think you’d never be on a dating site, yet here you are.....
For the decent men out there, I’m going to apologize now for my next statement - If you are looking for your next hook-up, keep looking. I certainly enjoy the physical part of a relationship probably just as much, if not more than you do, but I’d like a little substance too. I’m not looking for a friend with benefits.
Now.....if you’re still reading, thank you, you must be one of the decent men and looking for something more.
Though I was born in Washington, DC, and raised in the suburbs, I’m truly a country girl at heart. I was lucky to be able to spend summers with my grandparents at their cottage off of the Chesapeake Bay. That’s where my love for the water began. I learned to swim, row a boat, drive a boat, waterski and somewhat sail (ok, does a styrofoam sail boat really count?) all while enjoying summers fighting off the mosquitos that were big enough to carry me away. Being around water is like food for my soul. I enjoy boating, kayaking, waterskiing or simply sitting on the beach with a good book. Pretty much anything near the ocean, lake or river and I’m in! The mountains are equally as wonderful too, especially during the fall and winter months.
I love spending time with family and friends. I’m a mother to 4 adult children - 2 girls and 2 boys - there was never a quiet or dull moment in our house! Now I get to enjoy the giggles of little ones again with the three little girls my daughters have blessed me with. Family has always been important to me, but the older I get, the more I feel this way.
I enjoy the theater, museums, concerts, wineries, breweries, etc., but I’m just as happy to spend quality time at home. I also like entertaining and love to cook and experiment with food. I know this drives some in my family crazy because when I’m experimenting, I don’t always write down the ingredients/spices I’ve used, so recreating a dish they may fall in love with may not ever happen - I’ll get it close, but maybe not spot on.
Laughter is essential. I grew up with a father who was a practical joker and had a great sense of humor. Life is too short to forget to enjoy it and be able to laugh at yourself. I’ve gotten really good at this over the years. God gave me the grace and strength, but humor played a big part of getting me through the painfully tough times of caring for and losing my father and my grandparents.
I am very much a girly girl; however, I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty either. I’ve tackled repairs on the car (ok, they were minor and I had to YouTube directions because the owners manual was less than helpful, but I got it done!) and took care of replacing the wax ring on the toilet (who knew the commode was so stinking heavy?!) because momma didn’t raise a wimpy girl! I enjoy working in the yard and garden, though I didn’t inherit my grandfather’s green thumb so whatever’s still growing, I’ll thank Mother Nature.
Love to travel and it doesn’t matter whether it’s a quick, spontaneous weekend getaway or a planned longer trip. Even a long drive in the country, mountains or no planned destination with good music and someone special is enough of a getaway to recharge. I like riding motorcycles - never driven one - but enjoy riding them - wind therapy is good.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
Be funny or serious (but have a sense of humor for heaven’s sake!) - if you want to know something, just ask, I’m a fairly open book.
