Jamie & Sean, Married

"Met my best friend, travel buddy, and future husband!"
I almost missed out on the best thing in my life. "When love is meant to be, it will be." So many people have said that to me. But I was frustrated with my dating life. I wasn't a bar fly. I travel a lot for work. I didn't have time for many extra curricular activities. How is a busy single gal supposed to meet a guy? So I decided to give online dating a try. I joined POF in July 2009 after my mom had met her boyfriend on POF on Valentines Day 2009 (they are still together!). I viewed some profiles and even "liked" some of them. After a few days, I kind of got nervous about the whole thing and decided to hide my profile and to be honest, kind of just forgot about it. A couple weeks later I received an e-mail that I had a message from a POF member. I was wondering how in the heck someone was sending me a message when I had hid my profile! I almost deleted the e-mail but then curiosity got the best of me. I logged back in and it was a message from a guy whose page I had viewed and liked when I had first joined. His message was nice and he seems like a nice enough guy from his profile. We e-mailed back and forth for about a week. Finally we decided we wanted to meet and agreed on a Sunday night at our State Capital at 7:00 p.m. I was SO nervous. I told my mom and sister to expect me home around 8:00, definitely no later than 8:30! I called my best friend on the way there and told her that I was nervous; I didn't think I could do it. She asked me if he had my number and I told her no. She said well, go home then and block his e-mails and you never have to hear from him again. I pondered that suggestion for a moment and decided that I couldn't do that to someone. I parked my car and I saw a tall handsome guy walking towards me. My heart was racing! We talked and walked our city's downtown area. We went around to the back of the Capital building by some fountains that overlook the Missouri River and talked some more. Before I knew it, my phone was ringing. It was my mom and sister. It was dang near 9:00 p.m.! I told them all was fine and not to wait up for me. Buy the time we called it a night it was 11:00 p.m.! I couldn't believe I had talked that long to someone who had just been a complete stranger! Before we parted, he asked if he could have my phone number. Of course I gave it to him. I went home that night with butterflies in my tummy! My mom and my sister (who had waited up anyway) asked if I would see him again. No doubt about it, I would! After 2 weeks of dating him, I knew the way I felt about him was different than I had ever felt for anyone before. We discovered that we both like to travel and have been to Cozumel, Mexico twice and several other smaller trips together. Flash forward to Christmas 2011 and I received the most wonderful surprise of my life when he proposed! September 2013 I will marry my best friend. I can't imagine what my life would be like today if I had not joined POF or had I chickened out on that first date! Tomorrow (July 26, 2012) will be our 3 year anniversary. Thank you POF for providing the opportunity for us to meet!
