Erin & Ryan, Married 10/2015
I was ready to delete my POF profile because I just wasn’t finding anyone I felt was truly my equal. On the profile deletion page, I saw Ryan’s photo and thought, “why not?” So, I sent him a message.
Ryan had moved out to Stockton, CA for his Army recruiting job, after being moved from his previous duty station in Kentucky. I asked if he had explored Stockton at all, or had a chance to do anything fun since he moved to CA. When I offered to show him around, he took the bait!!
We met for the first time at my favorite local Irish Pub, and it just happened to be St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Little did I know, but this Irish boy (literally born in Charleville Ireland!) was all too happy to oblige. We immediately hit it off.
Being a high school teacher, educated conversation is extremely important to me. I knew he was a keeper when we talked endlessly about WWII inside this noise pub! He asked if could see me again, and our official first “date” was at an amazing restaurant and wine tasting location called, Mile Wine.
We soon discovered all of the many things we had in common (Baseball, wine tasting, Disneyland, Harley rides, and animals, just to name a few!), and started seeing each regularly. It wasn’t long before we didn’t want to be away from each other, and Ryan moved out of his tiny apartment into my home. And my dogs approved!! After all, that’s a deal breaker right? If the fur babies don’t approve, you’re out! lol
Both of our family and friends also approved, and in November of the same year Ryan proposed.
We were married in a casual ceremony at Lodi Lake the next year, and continue our adventures together this day! We love riding this roller coaster of life together, and are truly best friends.
I never thought I was ever going to meet someone like Ryan. Having lost my mother to bone cancer in 2013, I asked her before she passed away, to please send Mr. Right my way! I whole heartedly feel that’s what she did. Ryan has a very similar and incredibly goofy sense of humor, to my momma. He’s just as nerdy and weird as I am, and I only wish he’d had the chance to meet my mom.
Nevertheless, we also owe a lot of this to Plenty of Fish. Thank for bringing us together on a platform that we didn’t have to pay outrageous membership fees to join. We will never be able to repay what you’ve given us. THANK YOU POF!!!
