Hi. :) I'm taking a break from dating right now, to take some time out and work on some personal stuff. But I'm still here for the forums in the meantime. :)
To some people "carpe diem" means living like there's no tomorrow, partying, doing crazy awesome things like swimming with sharks, climbing mountains, bunjee jumping. To me, it means doing something worthwhile or productive each day. Sometimes, that might be going for a walk. Or working through my reading list. Trying a new hairstyle. Giving blood. Organising my sock drawer.
Bookworm, that's me. I'm currently reading****ns' Great Expectations - it's AWESOME, I highly recommend it. My taste in books is all over the place... I'll read classics by the Bronte sisters; Harry Potter; the fine works of Capote; Malorie Blackman's "Noughts and Crosses" series; classic fairy tales (before they were Disneyfied, much as I love Disney stuff). In between the 'good' stuff, I'll read fluffy chick lit for a break. If I'm feeling nostalgic, I'll dip back into the Narnia books again.
I am a big believer of reading the book before seeing the film. My only major exception so far has been Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings".
Films are a great way to relax. My taste is pretty varied... Troy; Lord of the Rings; Pirates of the Caribbean; Blood Diamond; Good Night and Good Luck; Schindler's List; Disney stuff; American Beauty; Anna and the King; Babe; Watchmen; Legally Blonde; The Wicker Man (the ORIGINAL, of course!). My absolute favourite film is The Piano...
...which brings me nicely onto one of my hobbies - playing the piano. Currently, I'm teaching myself to play Michael Nyman's "The Heart asks Pleasure First", which is the theme to The Piano. I'd also love to learn to play some piano music by Einaudi - his music is like a beautiful dream. One of my favourite pieces of his is "Nuvole Blanche".
