I dislike violence. I hate boxing and football. Baseball is OK but boring on TV. I find watching sports to be a big waste of time unless you are involved somehow.
I think republicans are either complete morons or complete scumbags.
I'm a firm believer progressive politics but don't spend much time thinking about it. In general it tends to be frustrating and upsetting to follow the news. I think there are more productive ways to make a positive difference in the world, such as volunteering or working for a company that does good deeds.
For example I am moving towards getting a job in the biotech industry. I'd like to help find treatments and cures for illnesses, while at the same time making a reasonable income. I'm not obsessed with money, but I like to live comfortably.
I think the old religions are antiquated. I believe in God, rather multiple gods People need religion in their lives, a higher power to believe in. Science is the new defacto religion. The defining characteristic of a god is consciousness, and higher level objects which exhibit signs of consciousness are gods. The United States, Society, PlentyOfFish, You and I, we are all gods. That's not to say we are omnipotent or good(many gods are bad). There is a supreme God, which is the whole of existence. This God is neither good nor evil, nor does it likely care if you pray to him. If you want your prayers answered, pray to a more immediate god, such as the company you work for or the city you live in. These are all gods. See Wikipedia for Natural Theology and Emergentism. The ideas are coalescing and a new dawn is approaching. It's a very exciting time to be alive!
I don't sit around dwelling about current events and frustrating myself into a frenzy(I'm way past that phase.) I like to have fun and live life to it's fullest. I think it's important that you to know where I stand. I'm very opinionated but I'm also very open minded. I'm passionate and care strongly about the things and people I believe in and love. What I'm not is boring. I may come off as shy and reticent at first, but once we get to know each other you'll realize that I'm a great conversationalist and curious about everything. I love trivia, I love learning new things! History, Art, Language, Culture, Science, Stories... Anything! For instance, you could tell me you were a garbage collector and I would start extolling the virtues of composting... Seriously, anything.
I'm a caring and honest person who wants to make a positive difference in the world. I mean a BIG difference. I'm extremely optimistic. I turned 36 in July, have brown balding in spots hair(usually shaved) and brown eyes. I am into Art, Music, Movies, Cooking, Games, Books, Philosophy, History, Romance. I like to hike, bike, jog, do yoga, sing in the shower, dance(though I'm terrible I'd love to learn), swim, juggle, doodle.
I'm a total nerd as I love technology and that is one of my greatest passions.
As far as music: Right now I'm listening to Boards of Canada, but tomorrow it could be Chopin, Yo La Tengo, Cat Power, Portishead, Beck, Beastie Boys, Radiohead, Underworld, Vivaldi or Prokofiev, Nirvana, Green Day, The Killers, Modest Mouse... Groove Salad on SomaFM(internet radio) is really good too.
I don't watch alot of TV. When I do it's usually PBS. I love Netflix.
I like a variety of food including Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Mediterranean. I used to be a vegetarian(not vegan) and will likely become one again.
I would like to father a baby but am not fanatical about it.If you are willing to go through the 9 month ordeal... I think one is best, two the limit.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
A conversation somewhere relatively quiet so we can hear each other. If our conversation went well and met again here are some ideas:
Walk the trails up at Lands End Park, Go to an art museum or an obscure Galleries, lunch or dinner at Tommy's Mexican, Bai Som Thai or Gaspares Italian, see a movie(The century theater at the Westfield is very nice), independent films are my favorite, especially something thought provoking, or romantic if that is what you are into. No action movies or mindless chewing gum crap though. Life is too short. :)
