Hi, Thanks for looking! I offer all of the following, and I'm looking for some of them in my partner: intelligence, empathy, honesty, patience, confidence, a good sense of humor (dry, not mean), romance, good dancing, plenty of education, curiosity, wisdom, depth, environmental and social responsibility, and a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Communication is essential. If you were to tell me about your day, or your life, you might be surprised by how well I would listen and understand. And you don't have to do all the talking. People have described me as articulate and intelligent, and I'm interested in the arts, current events, social science, science, and technology. I make people laugh, too. :)
Let's go for a walk...through local neighborhoods, shops, an art gallery, museum, a park, or your favorite place. I love to explore the coast. I want to travel to many places in the U.S., Europe, and the tropics, but I'm not as wild about travel as some of you are.
I’m 5'10" and attractive. Although I’m very thin, I've got good muscle definition, washboard abs, and an athletic build. I work out a few times a week.
I've got a good voice and ear. Maybe we could sing together. Usually, not on the first date! I don't sing often, but I've sung to my girlfriends and friends, and I could sing to you.
You'll probably like my dancing. A lot of people have complimented me on it, and I'm continuing to learn patterns and technique. We don't have to go dancing, and you don't have to dance, but it would be a big plus. I like teaching, so you could be a beginner.
Why not many pictures of me with other people? I'm not very gregarious. Also, working in small organizations populated by women has contributed to my having friendships with married women. They don't get a lot of opportunities for photos with me!
I’m politically liberal, and my values reflect this. I campaigned against G. W. Bush both times, but I haven't been as interested in politics during the last few years. I don't talk about it much. I've been a feminist since my teens, and I've had lots of female bosses.
Some of my favorite movies and TV series:
30 Rock, American Splendor, Avatar, Cloud Atlas, Desperate Housewives, Enchanted, Iron Man, Manhattan, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Modern Family, My Fair Lady, North by Northwest, Parks and Recreation, The Sound of Music, Walk the Line, WALL-E, Weeds.
Last read: The New York Times, The Onion, javascrapt stuff, movie reviews, Life after Life, Introduction to Java Programming, autobios by Graham Nash and Linda Ronstadt, Entertainment Weekly, Bossypants, Super Sad True Love Story, Steve Jobs, by Isaacson.
All-time favorite reading:
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Eleanor & Park, Steve Jobs/Isaacson, The Cinderella Deal, Looking for Alaska, The Shipping News, books by Herman Hesse, Thirteen Moons (parts of it, before the Trail of Tears), When the Women Come Out to Dance, autobiographies by Graham Nash and Linda Ronstadt, Bossypants, Super Sad True Love Story, On the Road, New Yorker stories, Evanovich books, The Best American Science Writing.
A little daydream: I imagine sitting together. We whisper to one another in a loving way, and I realize, again, how good it has been to be with you for the last few years. I gaze into your eyes and get lost in that mysteriously beautiful effect of seeing them while so close. It’s warm, quiet, and the flickering light of the fireplace casts a golden glow on your face, arms, and hair.
I look forward to sharing life and getting to know you!
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
Just some ideas. It doesn't have to be like the following: My ideal first date would be a short walk at the Shoreline at Mountain View Park, or window shopping (clothes shops, home decor, bookstores). We would enjoy the beauty, the people-watching, or sharing interests in what we see at the store, get to know one another a little, without prying too deeply.
Later dates could include dancing, sharing meals, ironing our socks--not :) , seeing movies, music performances, drives to San Francisco or Santa Cruz, art galleries/museums, or your favorite activities.
Even later: Movies at home, day trips, day hikes, dinner parties, renting a sailboat, private dancing lessons...
Eventually: traveling together, in domestic and foreign locales, decorating our place...any other ideas?
