I was told that my previous profile doesn't tell enough about me, and advised to post a more traditional (boring) profile. So here goes:
I've recently moved back to New York from spending a few years in France, Italy and Florida.
I have a strong and wonderful circle of friends. My friends and I run philosophy discussion groups, a wine tasting group, attend political and scientific discussions, and to relax we run movie marathons (sci-fi rules!!)
I'm both outgoing and introspective, thoughtful, honest, kind and love to laugh. I'm always learning something new and will continue to do so until I die. I'm looking for someone similar. I've been very, very fortunate in my past relationships and my long term friendships and I have a good relationship with my family.
My friends say that no profile is accurate that doesn't mention that I'm smart, happy and funny. And "intellectual" (???)
I am not materialistic. I particularly don't like shopping and commercialism: I'm more likely to spend money on great experiences than on "stuff" (unless it's stuff made by Apple!)
Who I'm looking for: you're curious about the world, have the urge to travel, and appreciate the power of music - all types. You like who you are, and have the capacity and desire to express your emotions (positive and negative) in a productive way. You have patience, and are ready to approach a relationship with optimism and good will. I speak four languages, so someone bi- or multi-lingual is definitely welcome. You're very social, you actually like movies with subtitles, and are comfortable in museums and used bookstores. You can recommend a few good books that I might have missed, and actually want to discuss them. You're politically aware, and have a basic understanding of the geopolitical and economic forces that make the world what it is. If you do not live in Manhattan or another completely walkable city, anywhere on the planet, that doesn't require a car for every facet of life, you are planning to move to one soon. You like NPR!!
If this is you - what's taking you so long??
We might not be a good fit if:
1. You're looking for a God-fearing church-going woman. I am an Atheist.
2. You love the suburbs and plan to be there forever. I live in Manhattan, and will only leave to live in another walkable city (anywhere in the world) that doesn't require a car for every aspect of life.
3. You prefer to spend your evenings chatting on PoF rather than connecting off-line (on the phone or meeting in person)
P.S. Guys - I hate to be rude, so I try to respond to all messages. It's taking too much time on-line to keep that up, so from now on I'll only respond to users who send an initial email that is personal (not a form letter). Also, if your profile and initial contact email together add up to the word count of a short 'tweet', I'll just ignore it. Thanks in advance for understanding.
Today I'm rocking to: Moodorama's "Beatzekatze". I'm sure this is the sort of thing Batman is listening to while cruisin' for crooks in the Batmobile
Musical update: Found my theme song!! It's "I Was Made for Sunny Days" by The Weepies. It's on their upcoming album, and pretty much says all there is to know about me (mainly that I like sappy, corny music and don't care who knows it:-) If you get this song, then you'll understand me perfectly.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
I'm not much into bars, but will consider anything short of an actual misdemeanor.
