I am a work in progress who hoped to age as well as Sean Connery. If you are looking for a knight in shining armour, mine is a bit rusty and battered.
I really enjoy the company of intelligent, creative women. I'm looking for a woman who has a sense of romance and quiet adventure; likes small towns, historic sites, rural rambles, museums, galleries, flea markets, yard sales and things generally arty. I am always ready for new experiences.
I enjoy Quebec City, Boston, quiet, intimate places & being near big water - ocean, Great Lakes, St. Lawrence. I regularly visit friends in Massachusetts. Antiques shops and flea markets are magnets. I have a favorite coffee shop where I write poetry.
I am philosophical and like to be engaged in good conversations about ideas on all topics. I have a poet's soul and have been told I am cute and charming for an older guy. I write poetry from the historic to the erotic and anything can be an inspiration.
I am far from perfect, but do the best with what I've got. I enjoy exotic foods, wine and candlelight.
I always look for the northern lights and open starry skys. Favorite food--anything Asian or edible. Coffee and conversation with friends. I enjoy most music but I am a poor dancer. For me, Reality TV is the History Channel and its kin.
Passion, tactile, amorous, curious, adventurous are in my vocabulary. I am a private person in some respects, yet very open and accepting. I am looking for a woman who wants a relationship with independence, one who is not looking for financial security from me. I do not have that to offer and am not looking for it.
I am looking for a woman who is yin to my yang. If you've a wild sense of humor and can be calm, cool and collected in turn, with few hang-ups, we could be a match. My philosphy is "brains before beauty." But, beauty must come with brains or never come at all. A couple should be on an equal footing, but I don't mind being challenged by a woman brighter than I pretend to be.
I travel eastern Canada, New York and New England and beyond as an 18th-century military and naval reenactor 20 weekends a year. As an historic reenactor, I dress the part and participate in reenactments of historical events, cooking over a fire, and sleeping under canvas. I am a gunner with the United Train of Artillery of Rhode Island (Rev. War), and portray a sailor from the French & Indian War, Rev. War and the War of 1812, when required. I portrayed a Canadain army chaplain at reenactments and commemorations. I was known as the pistol-packing, beer-drinking, profane padre.
That's me in a big nutshell. Anyone interested?
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
On the first date I want to begin to know the person beyond what emails may have been exchanged. It might be over a cup of coffee, but a dinner-date would be in a quiet place were we would be able to talk, perferably not trendy, but with good food of the type my date enjoys. Or the date could be a picnic in a tranquil setting by a lake or river in the evening or late afternoon so we can watch the sunset, the fireflies and then the stars. I believe the woman can/should select the location for the first date, even if that means giving over the choice to me. I want to do what she wants.
