I am passionate about music (love the new Portland sound and really like modern singer/songwriter stuff), animals (I have a medium mixed breed dog named Darcy), my work with troubled adolescents, reading (read a lot of Charles Bukowski, and a lot of biography and psychology stuff), trying new local restaurants, exotic beers, keeping connections with people I care about, and karaoke ("Ain't No Sunshine" is my signature song). I do better in small groups, crave periodic solitude, prone to occasional bouts of melancholy, don't do well with bossiness, and really can't stand it when people end their sentences with the phrase "and that". I am a Christian, but not the evangelical or charismatic type at all. My political views are pretty left of center. Oh, and I stutter. It's not a problem for me (I've been successful despite that--direct a team of 35 people and run a 30-bed facility for troubled youth), but I want to put it right out there on the table in case you are not in a place in your life for it. The other thing that needs to be put right out there is that I am in the process of adopting a 15 year old African American boy, so if you're not up for dealing with that don't bother contacting me.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
We'd go out for an early dinner (not a chain restaurant), then browse together in a music store or at Border's, or maybe catch a concert or a local band, then maybe a coffee. Afterwards, she would go back to her place and I to mine.
