About Kipling
“If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I'll bet they'd live a lot differently. ”
- Bill Watterson

“There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want.” - B. Watterson

Words mean things - yet we are defined immeasurably more by our actions.

If you're an assiduous listener to Dennis Prager, and agree with his general (and a lot of his specifics) take on life, we already have a great foundation to build on. Say what? Never heard of him. (Psst... I heard you can find ANYTHING on this thing Internet)

“Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.”
? Bill Watterson

“The more you are grateful for what you have the more you will have to be grateful for.” - Zig Ziglar

"What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like.
- Saint Augustine
A particularly useful and truthful quote, in my opinion. So much of life consists in not the hand dealt, but how we play that hand. And so it is when it comes to love, life and the life beyond.

A few of my favorite song lyrics, which is today's "poetry":

O - Coldplay
A flock of birds
Hovering above
Just a flock of birds
That's how you think of love
And I always
Look up to the sky
Pray before the dawn
'Cause they fly always
Sometimes they arrive
Sometimes they are gone
They fly on
Love a good, deep conversation, or sharing a meal, or a silly game or quote or most anyone's story. What is yours?

“The first stab of love is like a sunset, a blaze of color -- oranges, pearly pinks, vibrant purples...”
Anna Godbersen, The Luxe

(Disclaimer: NEVER read the Notebook - just liked this quote from it)

“Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are there cannot be one without the other yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel I remember wondering to be always together yet forever apart?”
Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

I wasn't going to replicate all the rest of the profiles that say "Love my dawg" or "Family and friends are so important" or "I like long walks along the beach" or "I love the Seasons but hate Winter".....

I'm better at connecting than connection. Six degrees of separation? Indeed. If you don't believe in "Miracles", I challenge you to read the book, "Miracles", by Eric Metaxas.

And then there is the most important question in life to live up to your potential: "What happens 1 second after I die?"

If you have "non-religious" in your profile I surely would like to understand where you are at in life, and what motivates you.
Everyone has a story and I like the quote, "People are more interesting than just about anyone."
So far, the best one-liner in anyone's profile I've read on POF has been "My Christianity defines who I am." Hard to top that!
Do you remember one of the best songs and lyrics from days gone by?

Mornings alone
When you come home I breathe a little faster
Every time we're together
It never be the same if you're not here
How can you stay away, away so long?

Why can't we stay together
Just give me a reason, give me a reason

'Cause I, I don't wanna say it
I don't wanna find another way
Make it through the day without you...

Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.
Zig Ziglar

“It's funny how, in this journey of life, even though we may begin at different times and places, our paths cross with others so that we may share our love, compassion, observations, and hope. This is a design of God that I appreciate and cherish.”
Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

3 Reflections:

The Ancient one:

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the universe, and feel
What I can ne'er express, yet cannot all conceal.-

from The Dark, Blue Sea - Lord Byron

From today's "poetry" (music):

"Swing Life Away"

Am I loud and clear, or am I breaking up?
Am I still your charm, or am I just bad luck?
Are we getting closer, or are we just getting more lost?

I'll show you mine if you show me yours first
Let's compare scars, I'll tell you whose is worse
Let's unwrite these pages and replace them with our own words

Name this 1972 classic:

My love
I'll never find the words my love
To tell you how I feel my love
Mere words could not explain

Precious love
You held my life within your hands
Created everything I am
Taught me how to live again

Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
Ravinia during its season is the best venue possible in all of Chicagoland - great for a 2nd date. However, starters would be to meet me at the local Care Center at 7:30 am Sat. mornings where I volunteer. This would already tell me more about you than what a lot of profiles would tell - your ability to give, to sacrifice and a little about your heart. And if you didn't think it worth while to head out from there, you've already benefited those who are a bit resource challenged at the moment. It's a win-win no matter which side the coin lands on.

Remember, there is Joy in the Journey. If you've lost it, it can be found. If you've never found it, find someone who has.

From Sonnet 116:
Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds...
