I don’t mean to test myself physically for the sake of enjoying art, but for some reason, it seems to happen. Like when I drove to the LACMA in the wee hours of the night just in time to see the Van Gogh exhibit. Or how I enjoyed getting too dirty and tan while lying on the ground to groove to the bands at Coachella Festival. Being invested in what I enjoy is part of who I am; my path of service involves being a good listener, regularly volunteering at community events and having a close bond with my family. I believe in authenticity and vulnerability, and strive for the same each day. I also know how to enjoy myself with the right one. The one who likes that I’m a creative type who’s a published poet, but is still adventurous enough to eat crocodile and go zip lining in Jamaica. The one who thinks that cooking together can be as romantic as holding hands, but smiles when he realizes that I put chili sauce on almost everything. The one who likes that I can rock a little black dress and heels as easily as I can feel comfortable in fitted jeans and a tee. You’re the one who knows that perfection is impossible, but feels that when we’re laughing until our stomachs hurt while strolling down the beach arm in arm, our value together is undeniable.
You’re up for something new, but have experiences to draw from. You have a worldly streak. You’ve traveled and haven’t been traumatized from trying different culinary delicacies around the globe. You’re positive. You have great energy. You make me want to take Argentinean tango lessons with you. You’d like to try out the latest local B&B with me. You like how I can help you relax with a massage or a sudsy shampoo. You enjoy how impressed I am with your knowledge of current events and ability to answer questions on “Jeopardy”. You're well educated. You’re halfway through a great book you can’t wait to finish. You’re kind. You’ve used a hammer for Habitat for Humanity and are more likely to buy Girl Scout cookies than roll your eyes at the solicitation. You’ll pick up mint chip ice cream on your way home from work because you know it’s my favorite. You share your hobbies. You're ready and have the time for someone special. You’re looking for the one you can cuddle with on a Sunday morning, but inspires you to be better and brighter. The one who loves you as much for your compassion as your ability to debate who makes the best French dip sandwich-Philippe or Cole’s?
