I love the arts! I'm a huge music fan. I can spend hours at Amoeba. I enjoy hip hop, jazz, funk/soul, electronica, Afro Beat, and Brazilian. Some of my favorite artists: Sade, 4Hero, The Foreign Exchange, Common, Mos Def, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Erykah Badu, DJ Spinna, John Coltrane, Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers, Stevie Wonder, Fela Kuti, Amel Larrieux, Esthero, Bebel Gilberto, Ceu, Jamiroquai, Flying Lotus, Portishead, King Britt, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Black Star, The Roots.
Food: Thai, Japanese, Jamaican, Haitian, soul/southern food, sweet potato pie, Creole, Cuban, and Ethiopian. Also like Chai tea
Books: Some of my favorite books include Assata, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, Race, Class and Gender by Angela Davis, The New Jim Crow. Can't go wrong with some old Boondocks comic books...
TV shows: The Colbert Report, Modern Family, The Walking Dead. The Office is hilarious! Also crack up to Parks and Recreation. Other than that, sometimes I like to watch old episodes of A Different World, The Cosby Show, Martin, In Living Color, Seinfeld, Fresh Prince, Chappelle Show & the web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl is very funny to me.
Movies: Coming to America, Harlem Nights, Love Jones, Bamboozled, Silence of the Lambs, 40 Year Old Virgin, I Love You Man, The Never Ending Story (since childhood), Mississippi Masala, Monsoon Wedding, Love Actually, The Usual Suspects, The Truman Show, Memento, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
