I swear I'll never figure out this internet dating thing!
While I am beginning to tire of this whole 21st Century Dating, I am so happy to be in an area I love near my daughters and with a few awesome family members and friends working my butt off in the hot sun! Even better, the "working my butt off" part is literal, I am down 23 lbs. Now for clothes shopping. My daughters tell me I have no fashion sense or at least not a good one.
Should I really write about my hopes and dreams, my interests and hobbies, movies and music I like, my vacations, etc.? If I do that here what will we have to discuss later?
As for describing myself... REALLY? My viewpoint cannot be truly objective therefore includes some bias. Beyond that, when anyone meets a new person they view that person based on their own personal ideals; how can my biased, however slight, view of myself actually match a woman's perception of me?
The bottom line is I miss the days when two people met in the course of their daily lives. Instantly they experienced electric excitement shoot through their bodies when their eyes first met. This led to a wondrous, hopeful anxiousness that left each of them fearing uttering the wrong words or phrase or doing something odd lest they be seen as foolish so they attempted to not stumble through this first contact. As life goes their responsibilities necessitated their reluctant parting for fear of not seeing one another again. Of course they then rushed off to tell their best friend or someone, anyone about the amazing person they met their hearts racing all the time. Quickly they began figuring out how to proceed without appearing to eager; should I call her tomorrow? In a few days? When I call should I play it cool and just talk, get to her? Should I go for it and ask her out? If I do will she say yes? Where should I ask her to go? What should I plan for us to do? OMG! My heart won't slow down!!!
Dating in the cyberworld just does not work the same way!!! Tis a sad thing how the often overwhelming responsibilities of life in the 21st century so drastically limits our time and opportunities for those chance meetings of days gone by!
Marilyn Monroe said something to the effect... "If you can't handle me at my worst you don't deserve me at my best" My response... that is a two-way street and I agree wholeheartedly!
The following is my attempt to shed some light on how my mind works. I will post a few more pictures in a day or two. Perhaps I will be fortunate enough, despite the extremely long odds, that the unique woman whom will appreciate this profile will happen upon it and contact me...
I am a conundrum wrapped in a paradox nourished by an enigma. I am a simple man at heart. I appreciate the little things in life yet enjoy occasional indulgence in the finer things in this world when the circumstances are right. I prefer to live an active and productive life that has some structure and balance yet spontaneous adventure keeps me young. I believe life without principles and morals life is nothing more than a series of bad choices and self-destruction yet a little anarchy is necessary to keep us from becoming automatons. While I place great value on intelligence; plain and simple common sense goes a very long way. (Stay tuned - will write more when the mood strikes)
It is my hope that one day soon my path will converge with the path a very unique and remarkable woman. The greatest measure of this will be her acceptance of me. She will be very open-minded, down to earth and able to view life from many perspectives. She is a woman of compassion and caring for our fellow human beings; willing to help those in need without concern for personal reward.
The following are simply snippets of my thoughts...
My life has proven to be a seemingly unending series of challenges. I am still standing. Next challenge please!

With the right perspective; A rainy day may be the brightest day of one’s life.
Chivalry and Honor seem to have become mere folklore; yet I still hold these as principles to live by.
Opening doors and pulling out chairs is a requirement of manhood.
Plenty of laughter on a daily basis is essential! So this one time in the psych ward...
Music is to the soul as oxygen is to the body.
Even random babble may hold wisdom.
There is only one Race, the Human Race.
Romance is an art; True Romance is expressions of the heart.
"Imagine" is one of the greatest songs ever written.
I will likely add to this on a regular basis.
