My name's Paul. I'm a BIS student at Sinclair Community College, hoping to transfer to Wright State's Computer School after I finish up. I don't really know what I want to do with my degree, but I hope I'll find something that keeps me busy and housed.
I play games a lot. Board games, card games, video games, miniatures games. Whatever you pull out, I'll probably at least give it a shot (except maybe Call of Duty). I like having a lot of options to play.
Board game/card game-wise, I prefer medium-length games like Carcassonne, Quarriors, or Eminent Domain. Longer games like Eclipse are fun every once in a while, but I don't like to commit to playing them on a regular basis.
For roleplaying games, I'm big into Legend of the Five Rings and Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay. I DM a Deathwatch group and play in the Heroes of Rokugan living campaign for L5R. I don't mind playing other systems, but those are the ones I play the most.
I wish I had the money to get into miniatures more. I have a pair of starter fleets for Uncharted Seas, but wouldn't mind picking up some Warhammer 40,000 or Malifaux minis.
Video games, I generally prefer MMOs. I'm big on Guild Wars 2 and EVE Online right now. I also enjoy Real-Time Strategy games like Dawn of War or Command & Conquer (I actually have the GDI logo from Command & Conquer tattooed on my right shoulder). I enjoy some American RPGs, but they have to hit me right. BioWare (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KOTOR) does the best job in my opinion. Bethesda (Fallout, The Elder Scrolls) and others are good too, but haven't really gotten into them as much. I also really enjoy space flight simulators like Descent: Freespace or Freelancer, though that genre is pretty dead as of late.
I don't read as much as I used to, but I still enjoy some books. H. P. Lovecraft and Frank Herbert are probably my two favorite authors. Terry Pratchett, Arthur C. Clarke, and Kiyohiko Azuma are all good too. I like reading about life in the far-future, utterly alien to our modern life.
I've kinda stopped watching TV or movies. I own a plethora of shows on DVD, but lately haven't really wanted to watch much. I watch some anime, though I don't really consider myself a fanboy. I like Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, Planetes, Gurren Lagann, and Cowboy Bebop, among others.
I've also mostly stopped paying attention to music, just listening to Top 40 stations recently. Back when I was really into music, I got into bands like Guster, Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie, Arcade Fire, VNV Nation, and The National. I used to play trumpet in high school, so I have a decent jazz collection. My favorite jazz musician is Dizzy Gillespie.
A good first date would be very simple. First, a nice meal at somewhere tasty but not overly fancy. Chipotle and Smashburger come to mind. After that, going to a mall and doing some talking and walking (and of course, a little shopping). Afterwards, head somewhere quiet to play some board games or just chat more intimately.
