I play acoustic guitar in my church's band every week. I've recently taken up swing dancing and am enjoying it way more than I expected. Weekends generally consist of camping, visiting friends and family, or going to the Farmer's Market and then cooking up meals based on what I find there. Roller coasters also might be in my future weekend plans. Downtime consists of watching a season of whatever show I'm trying to catch up on while folding laundry.
When I was a kid I wanted to grow up to be a blacksmith at a historical museum, or to play video games for a living. (I had to prove to my mom that I could so get paid to do that!) I did both of those things. The other day I was thinking about how cool it would be to actually film a movie on the moon. My main life goal now is being a great dad. I'm also learning how to program mobile apps. I think I can kick my mobile gaming addiction by creating addicting games for other people to play.
I used to kick ass, but ever since becoming a black belt, I feel I have an unfair advantage. I like books, but lately it's taking a lot longer to get through them. So if you suggest a book to me, remember I can only read as fast as the narrator can talk. I went to the gun range to find out what it was like to be an action hero. I found out that acting like you're shooting a gun is harder than shooting one.
I like to visit new places. When I was in college, I convinced my best friend to quit his job and go on a road trip with me to Boston. As we were driving past NYC, I found out he'd never been there, so I got off at the next exit. It turned out it was the exit for Harlem. After getting lost in Harlem and stuck in traffic driving around central park, he decided we needed to come back and do it right! But that's another story. But be forewarned, if you say you've never done something my response is that clearly we should do that.
I am musically easygoing. I really try to hate bands that sell out, but I find their tunes catchy so it's hard. I play mainly songs that can be sung at church or around a campfire. I like music with lyrics that speak to me, so I've only got one album of screamo music. (Gotta support your friends' bands.) I like listening to music, but if I'm not singing along it's generally something I prefer to listen to while doing something else (like dancing).
I am looking for someone who wants to make beautiful food together! I think cooking is best as a social activity. I want to be with someone who wants to get out and live life. I enjoy outdoor activities, and am a big fan of family game night. I recently got my kids to play Clue by buying the Big Bang Theory version. I will watch RomComs with you, and might secretly enjoy them. Spontaneity is a plus, but really you just have to be willing to embrace my spontaneity. The ability to talk about anything and everything is also nice. I love to learn about the world and I want to learn with someone. I am very social, and will do pretty much anything as long as I have a partner in crime. The only activities I really prefer to do alone are reading and writing music.
It turns out mystery dinner theater sells out months in advance. I'm really curious if it's like being in a giant CLUE game.
I think a coffee date is a good way to start, but Sweet Frogs is a good alternative now that it's summer.
