I'm a fairly eclectic kind of guy, to the point where it all boils down to a fairly simple concept. I love learning, I love being driven to learn, and I love any form of creative outlet for everything I have already learned. I thrive on problem-solving. Integrity and honesty are absolutely paramount to me, and I tend to wear my mind on one sleeve and my heart on the other.
Many of my friends would tell you that I'm the most cosmopolitan redneck they've ever met. My redneck friends would say I'm not even close to being redneck. I don't know, to be honest, I just know what I like.
I have an affinity for tasteless Hawai'ian shirts, and I collect hobbies like the couch collects coins. I am a photographer through and through. I've had a camera in my hand since I was three and have been published multiple times. I dabbled in the professional arena but left when I decided that I didn't care for the business aspect interfering with my love of the art. I build models. I've traveled to ten countries on four continents and 32 states... and I'm just getting started. My taste in music is incredibly varied. It's not uncommon for my mp3 player to go from Techno and Dubstep to Classic Rock, Country and Oldies to New Age, Classical, Hard Rock and Industrial. I'm sure I'm forgetting to list something, as well.
I spent ten years in the submarine service and am now looking forward to planting roots and rediscovering my land-legs. I do still occasionally pine for the ocean, as I firmly believe that all wounds can be cured by time with the sea. Over the past few years, however, the forest has been steadily taking its place.
My faith is important to me, but it's not where it once was. I don't attend church currently, and I prefer to keep my relationship with the big guy upstairs between me and him. I'm certainly not going to thump the bible at you, nor will I judge any level of faith you may have.
Exercise and good nutrition are important to me, although I do deviate from both far more than I probably should. I also play cards and chuck dice from time to time for something fun to do.
So enough about me. Let's talk about you. You should be interested in travel and adventure, and not afraid of spontaneity or whims of fancy. You should like smoked meats and cheeses just as much as fine gourmet (I forgot to tell you that I love to cook, and I just started experimenting with homemade ice cream). Physical fitness is more important that physical appearance. You should be comfortable in a t-shirt and a well-worn pair of jeans, but still be able to dress up when the occasion arises. I'm looking for someone with a razor-sharp wit and the ability to keep me on my toes. I need someone who will challenge me at every turn. Please be passionate about something - anything! I don't care what it is so long as you have something that will always drive you forward. Strong and independent should be words that you use to describe yourself almost as much as trustworthy and honorable. If this sounds like you, throw me a message. What's the worst that could happen? But make it stand out. Challenge me right from the beginning. Ask me a tough question. Put me in a scenario I've never considered. Intrigue me.
