I love live music, be it a local gig with a band I've never heard of or a huge festival with big names headlining three stages. One of my favorite things about meeting new people is music discovery. I almost always have music on.. that or sports radio. To say that I'm a devoted, die hard, SF Giants fan is an understatement. (As a kid I had Kevin Mitchell, Will Clark and Robby Thompson figurines.) I also love the SJ Sharks. I typically volunteer at a few Sharks and Giants games every year. I'm currently going through baseball withdrawals.... but I am THRILLED hockey is back! Go Sharks!
I am a mess of walking contradictions, but then again maybe that is how I create balance in my life. I can be loud, abrasive, electric, confident, defiant, passionate, stubborn, and some might say downright frustrating... But I can also be tranquil, affectionate, timid, insecure, sympathetic, and open-minded. Some might say there are two sides to me... ultimately I'm looking for someone that loves and appreciates me as a complete person...flaws and all.
I'm (finally) about to graduate from SJSU from the Kinesiology program. College has definitely been an endurance event for me. I am a personal trainer at a therapeutic aquatic facility in San Jose. When I'm not busy with work or school I'm probably with my kiddos; ages 4 and 7. I have strong friendships spread all around the bay area (and beyond) that I spend a great deal of time and energy maintaining.
Music will tell you more about me than anything else... and full disclaimer: Creed or Nickleback as your favorite band is an absolute deal breaker.
OAR, Guster, John Butler Trio, Pearl Jam, STP, Three Legged Fox, The Eagles, Led Zepplin, Matt Nathanson, Sarah Bareilles, A Perfect Circle, Eric Clapton, Foo Fighters, Gin Blossoms, Matchbox 20, Mumford and Sons, Sublime, The Dirty Heads, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Killers, Tom Petty.... I could be here all day...
Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Snatch, True Romance, Almost Famous, Old School, Wedding Crashers, Elf, ... and I can pretty much recite ALL of Top Gun from memory. And I'm ALWAYS in the mood to watch a movie with a baseball theme. (Disclosure..most baseball movies make me cry.)
Books: Mystic River,Catcher in the Rye, Lovely Bones
TV: My favorite show of all time is easily SCRUBS! I'm also a huge fan of Dexter and The Amazing Race...also Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, and New Girl.
I'm here because I enjoy the process of getting to know someone new. Sometimes school and work make it difficult to expand my social circles, so I'm hoping to meet a few people that are looking for something similar, and are open to seeing where things go. All of that said, I am here with the hopes of making new friends.. and maybe from one of those friendships something more "serious" can develop. Although I like to laugh WAY too much for serious to be the overall tone of any relationship for me.
I'm lucky to say I've had some pretty awesome first dates in the past. I really try to avoid dinner and a movie as much as possible. Ideally I'd love something active; Mini golf, batting cages, throwing a softball/baseball/football around, a hike, bike tour around the city, paddle boat on a lake, or walking around a museum/zoo. I just think it's to move around and let out some of the energy that comes with going on a first date. It also gives you something to talk about if the conversation needs a little help moving along. Then, after some energy is out and you've spent a little time together and things are still going well it can be nice to grab a bite to eat. Nothing crazy, just casual and easy going. I'm really not into getting very dolled up on the first date. It isn't that I don't enjoy getting dressed up, I've just found casual situations are where I'm most comfortable. By the way... I'm pretty much always open to trying something new on a first date. There's nothing much sexier than a guy inviting me into his activity world and teaching me the ropes.
