About Me
I would like to share this site, okweirdo.com, just as a guide for what absolutely not to do. Also it's pretty hilarious. In summary, sending a message that just says "hi how r u", "ur cute", "wut up want 2 smash", having a profile picture of your naked torso in the mirror, degrading women (any women) in your profile, completely ignoring the other person's interests and guidelines, or trying to use lines you found on google search are all fantastic ways to succeed at online dating (please note the sarcasm).
I am currently waiting for my master's thesis to be read so I can defend and graduate with my MA in biology, and I work as a swim lesson teacher and aquatics supervisor at a couple of different pools in Duluth. I am still not sure exactly where my career will go, but science and education are both very important to me. I would describe myself as an agnostic liberal with fairly strong opinions but respect for those who may not agree. I tend to find humor in most situations, am not easily offended, and don't get along very well with those that are unable to joke around. I am not a fan of PDA and get squeamish about lovey-dovey sorts of things, which has been misinterpreted in the past as a lack of emotion or affection. I think that sharing experiences and having fun is much more important than constantly expressing feelings with words.
My weeks generally consist of early mornings and long work days, listening to MPR in the car, watching something sci-fi/fantasy on Netflix, swimming around 8000 yds, hanging out with my roommates and cat, and of course hitting up the bars or making some drinks at the house. I like to stay moving, and I don't mean that metaphorically; I literally have trouble sitting still. I am looking for someone to get to know and have fun with; I am still rebounding and certainly don't want to dive into anything. A sense of humor, intelligence, and shared outlooks on life are all necessary, but I think sexual attraction is also a big part of all this and needs to exist to create something more than a friendship.

First Date
I think meeting up for a drink somewhere we can talk is a pretty standard date, but it definitely works. I think they are sort of ridiculously expensive for this town, but I really like the aquarium and have yet to visit the zoo and those would be fantastic.
