I grew up in Alaska, moving to Oregon for college many moons ago. Since then I have traveled to over 20 countries and remodeled three homes. My parents are salt-of-the-earth people, living on a small farm outside Portland, Oregon. I moved to Florida two months ago to enjoy endless ocean days. I believe in values of work-ethic, family, volunteering and treating others with kindness/respect. My brother is an Alaskan commercial fisherman. My extended family are amazing people I admire and enjoy. I am a small animal Veterinarian. I believe my chosen career says piles about who I am: I spent a decade in college to care for the innocent...and have been doing so for almost 20 years. I am that nice, reliable neighbor you trust and glad to have in your court.
I am looking for a man; a person that truly not only cares for themselves, but also cares for others. I work, pay my bills, save money, have health insurance, no debt. I am emotionally healthy, not reflexively here days after the end of a relationship. And you should be, too. You and I are equals, both desiring a relationship that we can grow together and individually.
On the FUN side, I take my collapsing kayak to remote areas. Last year I solo'd 100miles/8 days in the Everglades, then 5 days in Baja Mexico....and then some side trips to the San Juans and Vancouver Island. I'm a wee bit obsessed. :) I am a volunteer Trail Veterinarian for the Iditarod Sled dog race, braving subzero temperatures, snow camping and generally living some arctic life for a short while. I love to enjoy time outside, snorkel, BOATING... and the laze-around kind of walking the beach, movies, reading.
I am looking to meet one special person. I am not interested in weeks of emailing, days of texting, hours of talking on the phone. I'm more interested in meeting you as a person and you meeting me: that's real life. Lastly, yes...I am from a very Blue State..meaning: I vote, listen to NPR, choose environment over money, have spent my life living in multi-racial neighborhoods, occasionally hug trees, recycle and have been known to show up at rallies. I drive a Prius. Most of the time I keep my opinions to myself, respecting other viewpoints, and I expect the same from you.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
Let's keep it simple: sit down over coffee or happy hour and see where the conversation takes us. If we like each other, we can plan another day and another adventure.
