About Me
These mandatory descriptions are nonsense, but here we go: each day I make the world a more pleasant place, in any small way I can. I may be quiet, but I'm comfortable with myself, so it's important that anyone spending time with me is also comfortable with himself. Someone who might be charmed (rather than embarrassed) by a woman who delights in simple pleasures and all the wonders of the world ... but not in a hippie-ish way. Sometimes I bounce when happy or excited.
I read voraciously. Mostly nonfiction on local geology, paleontology, and a fair amount of popular science and math just for fun. Sometimes, though, I prefer to escape into fantasy worlds, usually with magic of some kind and words the authors just make up. Name of the Wind is a good example. Dune. A Song of Ice and Fire. I'll wander around the library grabbing whatever looks promising, devour them, and come back for more a few days later.
I spend a lot of time outdoors, scouting for fossiliferous sites and just exploring. Words I love: surprise; adventure; serendipity. "Fear is the mind-killer."
Some people have been confused by the uncommon mix of tomboy, girlie girl, innocence, and ferocity. I'd just like to point out now that shyness is only a temporary state, and kindness is not a handicap; it's a strength. So if your intention is to make a friend like me, feel free to say hello.
