About Carl
I was born in Germany, grew up and went to school on the East Coast (NJ, NYC, and NY state), lived for extended periods in Mexico and Europe, and moved to the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan in 1991 to teach Sociology at a university. I enjoy teaching. I have a good rapport with my students and I feel that my classes made them think about and question the world (which, I believe, is the primary objective of a teacher). I retired from teaching on 1/1/12 and moved to Naples, FL at the beginning of Sept. I am now back in the UP for the summer.
I exercise regularly, eat properly, drink a modicum of red wine every day and maintain an appropriate weight. I have one pet, an 8 lb black poodle, Leo. I have a variety of interests such as home repair and improvement, travel, food and wine, world history, literature and philosophy, classic and modern art, Japanese woodblock prints, antiques and art deco furnishings.
I would describe myself as a decent, trustworthy, honest, passionate, sincere person who is far from perfect. I am not materialistic and I do not equate happiness with having a new car, the biggest boat or the largest house.
I seek a trim, fit, friend, companion and lover ready to travel to off beat places and open to whatever life may hold.
One more thing: I am not as stern and serious as I look in my pictures, I am just look serous when someone is taking my picture. I always have.
