About Me
From VA/DC, and before that lived mostly in S. America.
Art/creativity, nature, discovery (science, etc.), and kindness inspire me.
This American Life and Snap Judgement are the sound track to my household chores.
The worms on the sidewalk after a solid rain fascinate me and at the same time make me squeamish…as do banana slugs.
In my free time:
-doing almost anything w/ friends + family… dinner parties, or hikes are always good!
-alone time to nerd out on creative projects
-volunteer cook for a street meal
-miscellaneous, but not unimportant category: hike or jog; read; go see art/theater/performance; meditate-pray-whatever you call it; travel; sketch
Would like to meet:
-a kind/generous soul (I’m not thinking money here, more like with themselves), with a strong sense of self and yet respectful, and inquisitive about others and their differences, honest, and an ability to be grateful for/glad about some of the everyday bits of life..and wisdom would be awesome (but that's a rather long list...so i recognize that a mix of most of these qualities would be a total find!). These are the same attributes I aspire to (though beyond these things, having very little else in common seems fine by me: sharing values and not opinions seems like a fine way to go)…oh and let’s not forget goofy and/or fun (not all the time, but for joy and sanity’s sake).

Sports: basketball, baseball (not good at them anymore, but would give 'em a go for fun)..jogging and hiking (not sports per se, but still love 'em)
Music: Ska, house/ electronic, sambas, some blues, some mo-town, a very few pop songs, am a somewhat closeted lover of spanish power ballads (think Shakira and Los Juanes),....and for all my enjoyment of music, really cannot dance (but will if the occasion strongly calls for it).
Books: Mountain Beyond Mountains, 100 Years of Solitude, Freakanomics, Crime & Punishment, The Little Prince, Phantom Toolbooth, Soldier of the Great War, Lost in a Good Book, The Cellist of Sarajevo, Lighthouse Keeping, Between Silence & Light.
Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Princess Bride, Zoolander, Billy Elliot, The King's Speech, Koyaanisqatsi, Fletch, O Brother Where Art Thou, Raising Arizona
