I live my life by the philosophy that "happiness come from within, not from without." I'm really into Buddhism and Stoicism. Rainy days are my favorite, whether running around outside getting soaked and enjoying the thunder, or drying off curled up in bed with a good book.
I'm an introvert who'd rather be alone in the woods, lit by moonlight, than in some loud and crowded bar. I'd rather play board games all night than get drunk all night. Still, there's nothing more fascinating than other people. My favorite kind of people are those who embrace their own passions and ideals, without caring that the world thinks of them. Like Seneca said, "Let us ask what is best - not what is customary."
Right now I'm working as a programmer for a non-profit, but I'm aiming for an early retirement at 30 since I live a very low-impact lifestyle and investing is one of my hobbies. After that, I have a huge bucket list ready to complete: starting a vegan food truck, writing a few novels, getting a massage therapy license, etc.
I reserve a special kind of love for books. I love P.G. Wodehouse, and any book with understated British humor, or which could be described as a "romp." I love mysteries, with or without dead bodies. I love science fiction, though I think that Asimov was a total hack writer and all the best science fiction has been written after the year 1993. Most of all, I like books which are able to skillfully balance crushing sadness with joyful levity. It's like how baked goods need a little bit of salt to bring out the sugar's sweetness.
My one qualification for matches: must love cuddling.
