First off, I'm a bit of a nerd. I read a lot, watch documentaries and geek out over random stuff. I grew up in a small town in Southeast Alaska, and just moved back to Texas after going away for school. Now that I've done my world exploring I'm ready to settle in somewhere. Not necessarily here, just somewhere. Not to say I've lost my interest in travel, there is still a whole big world out there I have not seen.
I love to cook, and look forward to having fresh seafood again. I'm the kind of person who buys cook-books for ideas rather than the actual recipes. When not cooking I enjoy going out to local restaurants, so I'm a big fan of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Been to a few of the places Guy has frequented.
I'm not much of a drinker, and definitely not big on big parties. For a night out, a pub or tavern is more my style. Somewhere I can relax, have a drink or two and chat over a game of pool or darts. I'm hoping to start seeing more comedy shows and local music shows. And I'd really like to get back into rock climbing if you know a good place.
It should also be noted that I'm not into sports, yes, even football. I realize I'm in Texas and that's blasphemy, but sorry, not my thing.
For a first date, I prefer something low key. Especially when meeting someone from a website, its important to get a feel for each other, so a coffee shop, quiet bar or casual restaurant are my favorites. That way we can just sit and chat, get to know each other a bit, and then if things are going well, its not unusual for me to suggest going out for bowling or even laser tag (I'm a big kid at heart, sue me). Things like movie theaters or shows means we're just sitting awkwardly together, so I prefer to wait on those.
