Alright, I am getting real tired of this single business. It's not that I am co-dependent or anything, but heck, having a girlfriend would be nice. I'm at that stage in life where family is starting to become inquisitive on why I am still single--plus all my friends seem to be doing couples-only things nowadays. Overall, bachelorhood is getting old.
Yes, I am selective; not going to lie. But in all honesty, I am ultimately seeking a bona fide companion. Ideally she would be educated (but yet not smug or pretentious), down-to-earth, funny (like fart jokes and impersonations), somewhat of a kindred spirit, and takes pride in her appearance (as in she is conscious about her health, mind you).
Wait! Before you click onto the next profile, I sincerely mean "companionship". I know in female-speak that translates to "potential player," but seriously, I am wanting an exclusive and legitimate relationship where we simply enjoy our company and genuinely like each other. The prospect of the m-word still scares me. I mean, dude, it's a lifelong commitment. We really have to know one another. I am still holding out instead of just settling with anyone by merely feeling obligated to do so. I am a bit reluctant in admitting this, and I'm sure it will deter a resounding number of you ladies as your biological clocks are ticking, but....I don't want to play house. There, I said it. I want to see the world, damnit. You know, enjoy life, actually experience the positives on what a relationship can bring rather than going down the conventional conveyor belt of life. But if it's any consolation, I am good with tools (in other words, a handyman). Just saying!
So, the above probably scared a number of you off already. If you're still reading, here's a little about me:
I like drinking downtown on weekends, trying new places to eat, embark on a road trip without a particular destination, movies, concerts--essentially any normal person stuff.
I still want to visit Vegas!
I am a writer by trade (yes, gainfully employed; scratch that off the list, ladies). I am about to enroll for grad school to hone my craft as well.
I run nightly, plus do my daily regiment (give or take) of sets to get buff (somewhat). However, I don't feel compelled to display my bodily progression by uploading a shirtless pic.
(struts down the hallway and takes off shades)
"Excuse me, but do you know which way to the weight room?
(puts shades back on)
(I'm joking! I'm not really like that. Honest.)
I want to travel the world. This is a huge goal of mine. I'll "Eat, Pray, Love" it, male style.
I like fishing, as in the real kind.
I'm not too inclined to attend sporting events. I prefer actually playing them rather than just spectating. (I love basketball. I'm known as the White Guy Who Can Actually Jump. And I golf, too.) I mean, I'll go for the socialization aspect and what not; I just need beer to get me through them, though.
I still play my video games. Fair warning.
Favorite tunes: I'm about as eclectic as they come, music-wise. I know that term is used very loosely nowadays, but really I am. Some of my favorites include: Kendrick Lamar (don't kill my vibe!), Steely Dan, Neil Young, Rage Against the Machine, Tupac (for real), Boards of Canada (tranquil escapism that is definitely worth a listen), Waylon Jennings (when country muzak used to be actually country!), The Police, Depeche Mode, Ahmad Jamal, The Smiths, Spin Doctors, and anything 70s/80s/90s. I tend to keep it old school for the most part.
Movies: Sideways, Once Upon a Time in America, The Big Lebowski, Ghost World, The Elephant Man, Batman (the first one), any Will Ferrell-Adam McKay collaboration (Anchorman, Step-Brothers), Dirty Work, About Schmidt, The Way, Way Back, Lonesome Dove, The Big Chill, A River Runs Through It, Office Space, Road House, Sneakers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the first one).
