Why does it seem that every new POF message I receive is "Hey There :)"??? Kinda reminds me of Joey on Friends... "How YOU doin?"
Signing up for more time relaxing in a flotation tank. Recently took a Segway tour through Oakland, and thinking about the Goldengate Park tour next. Looking for more fun, off the beaten path things to do.
Sneak Preview of a film project shot in Paris last summer http://youtu.be/S7k3tOoih9Y .....I usually prefer to remain firmly BEHIND the camera!
I'm Brian, BWar is a play on my name.
Divorced and new to the Bay area (2011) from Chicago. Mostly unpacked.
What have I discovered from online dating?
I''ve learned that some women state their true age and recent photos means the current millennium; Some use words other than "Hey There" as a greeting, most (but not all) were born as women (sorry Trans Gender "Denise") and some understand that a python might be your family pet and not an oblique reference to something which justifies an insulting rant against members of my family (If only online dating sites could screen out the mentally challenged!).
In other words, its good to maintain a sense of humor!
Originally from Motown, attorney by trade, but film is my passion.
Lately I've been obsessed with guitar tones. I've been on a tone quest to find the perfect guitar/amp/pickup/pedal/cable combo to arrive at this magic tone. In this quest, I've already "sacrificed" many once proud guitars. But progress has a price.
I’m really good at
Ideas. I place the highest value on trying to arrive at an idea previously unrealized. Camera placement and photographic composition. I've had photos published in an arts journal and a public showing. Also just completed my first indie feature.
I can eat with chopsticks with either hand. Could come in handy in an emergency. I just discovered I can also crack eggs one-handed with either. There is a universe somewhere where this skill is prized!
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes which are green and orange. OK, mostly green.
My favorite compliment was being told I always look like I know something no one else knows. [UPDATE] That Something is that Pythons are reptiles. (Relates to a dating mishap when I mentioned Isis, our python and someone from OKC took offense....seriously.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Divulging this information will make me look like a serious geek.
Needless to say - for films, I'm into supporting indy filmmakers everywhere, though honestly, some of it can be pretty bad at times.
Anything by Stanley Kubrick, Coen Brothers, Danny Boyle, Giuseppe Tornatore (Cinema Paradiso and other great films). I see every new Woody Allen film, though his rom/coms are really not my thing.
Also big on art house/European films.
I am the kind of guy who will accompany a date to a chick flick -but I have to be honest here... Films (and I use the term "film" loosely) such as Footloose and Dirty Dancing make me physically ill. Think of the lost potential for that film stock. Oh, the humanity.
Music: The bands featured in Catch A Rising Bullet.
Moist Guitars, Butter, So Scared, Bamboo Grove, Pete Carney, Spanking Machine. Even Grammy winner Douglas Spotted Eagle and house music legend Marcus Mixx (who also appears in the film).
Other bands I like: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Chili Peppers, Leonard Cohen, Tragically Hip, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Interpol, (I'll have to review my cd cabinet),
Note: Love Nirvana but cannot stand Pearl Jam.
3 soundtrack albums I REALLY like are Mystere, O, and Ka. Everyone should know these.
TV - Don't watch it. I know absolutely nothing about the current state of American television - except for Family Guy, the funniest laugh-out-loud show EVER.
The six things I could never do without
(contributing to this as I think about it).
1. Tabasco sauce. I must have burned out my taste buds since I drown everything in it. I have also perfected the art of cayenne waffles and cayenne smoothies.
3. Close friends.
4. Freedom (I share this desire with Leonardo...The artist, not the actor).
5. A pocket notepad to capture those once in a lifetime thoughts. They usually slip away too soon. Still looking for one I lost on a civil war battlefield during a recreation.
6. Being clearly understood. Struggling with this one.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Not that I don't occasionally drink, but a woman posting photos to her profile of herself holding a beer is really the equivalent of a guy posting photos of himself showing off the Remote Control to his widescreen HD TV. Not quite as cool as you think. Or maybe his car.
I think about....Unwritten stories and un-photographed images.
I spend a lot of time thinking about... moving past this first film.
I'm working on 4 screenplays right now - all of which could conceivably be filmed on a microbudget.
Need to finish editing a short Civil War film. Its called "Execution At Dawn". What else would I call it?
Preview is now online at http://vimeo.com/17940269
Not long ago I made the semi-finals of the Nicholl Fellowships in screenwriting (final 114 out of 6,307 entries worldwide) and I've got two entries for this year's competition...
Music: I listen exclusively now to CBC 3, and award bonus points to those who know what this means :-)
Q: Why don't I watch "reality TV"?
A: I refuse to spend my life watching other people live theirs.
- I do like body art, generally not the permanent kind. I've been proven wrong.
Consider that if haircuts were as permanent as tats, I'd be forever stuck with my mid-80's mullet. I'd have to move to the Jersey Shore instead of the California shore.
- I rarely watch TV, but when I do, I watch NETFLIX! (yeah, I stole that from the Dos Equis commercial) Currently watching all available episodes of Scrubs. Never seen it before.
On a typical Friday night I am
Editing video or playing one of my electric guitars. I have less than ten. That's all I'll admit about that.
I need to get out more often.
