About Dylan
Howdy everybody. My name is Dylan and I am a graduate student at the Pennsylvania State University. I am working on my masters of education in higher education with an emphasis on college student affairs. I am passionate about working with students as they develop throughout their four-years and helping them find their authentic self. Currently I am in Lafayette, LA for a summer internship and will be here until the middle of August.
I often like to introduce myself with some interesting facts when I’m blindly meeting people so… Three interesting facts about me are: (1) I was named after my dog, (2) I have lived in California, Pennsylvania, England, and Illinois, and (3) most of my hobbies include the letter b. I like to brew my own beer, ride my bicycle, and craft my own bowties.
I’ve only recently moved back to Pennsylvania so I am still trying to find my way around the area (I was a lot younger when I lived here originally). I’m really community focused so I really enjoy becoming immersed in a community and learning about it. Relationships play an important role in my life and I love learning more about the interconnection that envelops all of us as a community. This all plays into the fact that most of my personal values revolve around relationships or communities (love, culture, and harmony are three of my values).
Learning is a big part of my life and I will continue to be a life long learner. Entering into college I thought the purpose of higher education was to get a degree and then a job. Thankfully during my first semester at college I had the opportunity to take a philosophy class. It changed my life. I quickly switched majors and began to learn about everything I could in my classes. I really found my calling once I started looking at gender issues and how the patriarchy impacts everyone in the world. No hiding it… I’m a feminist. If that is an issue, then I guess we can have a great conversation about it sometime if you would like.
What I'm looking for? I'm looking for someone that will understand and appreciate my weirdness and allow me to understand and appreciate theirs in return. I'm looking for someone to challenge me in many different ways and allow me to explore myself through them - a psychological mirror. I'm a hopeless romantic so I guess I'm just looking for somebody to love.

My favourite books include: Phantom (Susan Kay), The Symposium (Plato), Battle Royale (Koushon Takami), Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card), and The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter (Carson McCullers).
My favorites movies include: Moon (2009), Good Will Hunting (1997), Shawshank Redemption (1994), Return to Me (2000), Gran Torino (2008), and The Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011). I also really enjoy watching indie movies.
Favourite shows: The Big Bang Theory, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Shameless, Modern Family, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Chopped, X-Files, Breakout Kings, Malcolm in the Middle, and Once Upon a Time.
Favourite Music: The Decemberists, Frank Turner, the Avett Brothers, Girl Talk, Tallest Man on Earth, Regina Spektor, and Explosions in the Sky.
Favourite Food: Indian and Vietnamese. I also really like burgers and craft beer.
