I love a great meal, a great show, or a great trip.
I'm quite involved in the theater scene around the area as an amateur actor and director, and patron of many local companies. I'm a sucker for the classics, but really enjoy thought-provoking new works as well.
I love live music, whether its a massive ampitheater concert or a small local venue, I'm always up for a show. My taste in music is pretty eclectic, but I like to be able to understand the lyrics, so anything too loud, or with too much screaming will probably not be my speed.
I appreciate good food. A nice meal at an interesting restaurant is one of my favorite indulgences. I enjoy food that makes me think as well as feel comforted. I'm not that great at making many things, but I'm learning, and getting better.
Travel replenishes me, and I'm open to a variety of destinations, from local day trips to international excursions. Some of my favorite places are San Fransisco, New Orleans, and Paris.
I have a great job at a local University, though my work focuses on helping disadvantaged high school students make it college, rather than sitting in an office, smoking a pipe, and expounding on 15th century Mongolian poetry (not that there's anything wrong with Mongolian poetry, of course).

I'm pretty open to first date options. Grabbing a drink or a nice dinner would be ideal, I think. Weekend outings to some local wineries can also be fun.
