I'm a military brat so I've lived in a lot of different places, mostly in the southeast. I moved to New York City 8 years ago, sight unseen, for work. It's been an amazing adventure.
I love all things sports - Rangers for hockey and the Saints for football. Or my fantasy team depending on how they're doing. I play on a work softball team. I do yoga a few times a week. I like any group sports activities. I ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon with a respectable time. 2 01. I started a swim class when I fractured my foot. I'd like to get back into running, but I'm still not there yet in the healing process.
I have a great group of friends. I wish my family lived closer.
I live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I support local businesses. I love this area because it's the first place that I've lived since moving here that fosters a real sense of community.
I'm working on finding the life/work balance. I try to take advantage of every opportunity to experience something new and different. I'm learning to go with the flow instead of fighting to keep my life the way I expect it to be. And I'm trying to surround myself with ambitious positive people. Without being a hippy about it.
I don't commute for work or for dating, so if you're not in NYC, it probably won't work out unless you're willing to come to the city a few times a week. Nothing against anywhere else, just something I've learned through trial and error. I'm not opposed to settling down outside the city eventually.
