I'm a world traveler, Medieval Master, gamer geek, tattoo enthusiast (but I can hide them all from your mother if need be), linguistic nerd, techie, and avid academic. I love spending time with my huge family and thanks to my 3 brothers I can pretty much guarantee that you don't have to worry about your friends shocking and offending me. Don't get me wrong I can be ladylike when need be, but I won't run away scared at the first sign of dudely behavior from you.
I love exploring new cities and countries with the important people in my life- in fact one of my favorite things to do is get absolutely lost in a foreign city and have a grand adventure trying to get un-lost with my friends. I've spent 3 winters and 2 summers abroad and I can feel the wanderlust tingling in my toes calling for another adventure! (Or is it the thought of making out under a full moon on a rooftop in Athens with an unobstructed view of the Acropolis making my toes curl? You decide.
I'm work for a tech company managing quality assurance for a multi-platform software product but I have my MA in English with an emphasis in Medieval English languages, linguistics, and literature. I guess that makes me a study in oppositions. I frequently nerd out on knights, battles, armor, and the like as well as techie stuff like test design methodologies and automated testing frameworks. I have been known to translate Anglo-Saxon poems for fun, play D&D, and go to the occasional Renaissance Faire. I've put together my own computer and I knew how to program my VCR back in the day.
When it comes to entertainment my interests are pretty varied. I can listen to or watch almost anything but I love to om-nom on some pretty nerdy entertainment! Put on Doctor Who reruns and I'll cuddle up all day. I also have a not-so-secret love of Kevin Smith movies... Snoogins!
Like any good geek I have my shy and socially awkward moments so don't mistake awkwardness for lack of interest.. The more comfortable I get with someone the more my inner social butterfly comes out. ;-)
It's hard to get to know someone when you can't really talk so let's skip the movie. How about a beverage or a silly activity?
The Doctor: Fancy a week in ancient Mesopotamia? Followed by Future Mars.
Clara: Will there be drinks?
The Doctor: On the moon.
Clara: The moon'll do.
(Yes, I know I misquoted that. It keeps censoring c-o-c-k-t-a-i-l-s.)
