Take me away from all this online craziness! Not that I'm a serial dater (far from it) - it's just that this is such an impersonal process, but an inevitable way of getting people together in this crazy busy, heads-down world we live in.
I'm originally from Ireland and spent many years living abroad as a child (Air Force brat) and in Tucson, Seattle, St. Paul and San Diego as an adult. I love SUNSHINE, great scenery and the outdoors, but I'm not an athlete as it seems so many are in San Diego (although I've ridden in the Tour de Tucson (50 miles), trained up to mile 16 for a marathon (before I pulled a groin muscle) and loved rowing in an 8 while in Seattle and sculling on Mission Bay). I do need a little kick in the pants to get out the door to the gym, or hike the mountain, but once I'm there you can't get me to leave. I am not in the best shape of my life but I'm getting closer every day.
I love a good walk/hike, interesting talk, fresh air, animals, kids, family times, good food (pretty much everything), travel, a great beach or walk through a foreign village, real estate, a great read (White Tiger, Into Thin Air, Wendy and the Lost Boys, The Paris Wife, Fast Company & National Geographic are all recent reads), research (I'm a total research geek & do side work for friends in other realms of business), home remodeling and design, Sirius radio (alternative, 80's and some current dance/pop for treadmill runs), a Cosmopolitan (yes, I'm a product of the 80's) but wine puts me to sleep - sorry! Speaking of booze, I drink occasionally - my ex was an alcoholic and it just killed drinking for me (for now anyway).
I love being a realtor and having flexibility in my schedule. Every day is a new day - although that can be a bit crazy at times. I worked my way through college working in a hardware store and am a bit of a tomboy. Had my contractor's license in MN and have flipped over a dozen homes and helped another dozen clients remodel their homes. I'm not a glamour girl - more like a tall drink of water with some curves (think Adele, without the great voice). I'm a genuine, down to earth girl, sensitive, smart, kind and open minded - I may be 46 but seem to be perpetually 32 in my mind. I like to look at the world through rose-colored glasses, it looks better that way - not that I am immune to what is going on in the rest of the world, it often breaks my heart.
I used to be a workaholic and have been taking it easy for about a year - I like it! Just moved back to San Diego in Fall 2011 after a divorce in 2010 and 10 freezing winters in Minnesota. Looking for a genuine man who is kind, smart, funny and tall - I'm just shy of 5'11". Not into playing games or hooking up. I may be a bit shy to start but guaranteed to make you smile! I've encouraged myself to make many changes since moving back to San Diego - they include taking more time to smell the roses, appreciating how lucky I am to have the lifestyle I have, explore other opportunities/cultures/lifestyles and appreciate every person for who they are and from where they have come. I've been thinking lately about extended volunteer work in another country, or hooking up a Wee House to my CRV and hitting the road for 6 months ... or more. I have an adventurous spirit but there seems to be an invisible force field that's been holding me back - I guess it's fear, or perhaps just wanting to share those adventures "with" someone.
I'm not impressed by who you know, what you drive and who made your suit, watch or shoes - I'd like to know what makes you tick and perhaps even, who you'd like to become. I'm pretty sure that's what a relationship is all about, right? Getting to know each other, liking each other, supporting each other, sharing life's experiences and wanting to be a better person because of each other. I want to share my vulnerable side and know my partner's too, then have each other's back - getting to that level of intimacy is what a real relationship is about, in my mind anyway.
I enjoy great time spent with a wonderful partner & friends and am quite often the life of the party (Irish genes)- but those who know me well know that I am a bit of an introvert. I am very social and easygoing with people but I need to re-charge my social batteries several times a week and enjoy a quiet evening at home or sitting by the sea. If you'd like to join me in any of the above - drop me a line.
Ciao for now!
