“Longing is the agony of the nearness of the distant.” X-)
Well, I am quite philosophical, always have been. I think and reflect on things. I am a realist at heart. The game of life is reality. So much fantasy and magical thinking to avoid the hardships of life. I take the hardships on, survive, live and thrive. I love my life, and enjoy it to the fullest, warts and all. Be real, and I will be as well.
First, I am very easy to talk to; I hold my preconceived notions into abeyance, and see what flows. I know that after the first few minutes if there is too much effort going on to keep a conversation going, then I see the Iceberg coming. This is why I use humor, or it uses me. Humor is characteristic of who one is, and it is either pleasantly infectious, or not. First impressions are like IED’s, you never know when one is going to go off, so I walk with confidence, and if it blows, it blows. Nevertheless, I give leeway to the artificiality of this whole process, and I won’t toss you out like a civil service application processor (you forgot to check that box). If I feel there is something substantively below the surface, I’ll dig a little deeper. Since digging a little deeper sometimes yields gems from the ostensible drab hard rock. So with a little picking and rubbing, nudge nudge, and soft blowing, the birthing of the gem’s luminescence hopefully reveals what I have been searching for all along.

To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be happy one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness.”- Woody Allen
