About Me
I like the color red, hummingbirds, the ocean, sunsets, lattes, lamb, poetry - haikus especially, architecture, dancing, all kinds of music, and baking.
I’m a bit of a foodie, a curious soul, and an explorer of neighborhoods. One of my favorite things to do is eat a really good meal at some small restaurant in a part of town I don’t know and then walk around the neighborhood to see what I may be missing.
I love black and white films, and prefer Hitchcock, documentaries and foreign films, but I do love a good, over-the-top blockbuster. I also love 70s blaxploitation films, especially ones filmed in Los Angeles.
My favorite books are To Kill A Mockingbird and The Color Purple. I grew up with Hip Hop and love it with a serious passion. I actually remember where I was when I heard certain classics. I should probably also admit that I like my fair share of rachet music (think Trina, "My Neck, My Back," Trick Daddy, etc), but that's more because of my four years of going to school in the South.
I recently rediscovered meditation and yoga, which I do daily. It helps keep me centered and less stressed. I'm not usually stressed to begin with, we all have our moments. Still, I'm grace under pressure. I love the theater. I go to as many plays as I can in LA, but I go to NYC at least four times a year to see something there too. I dream of the day when my play will be in a theater on either coast. That day may be coming sooner than I think. I volunteer a lot. I believe in helping other people as much as I can, and I take it seriously. I've been told I have an eye for style. I don't know about all of that. I just know what I like and I have an eye for that. I read a lot of fashion magazines, mainly French and English mags, because I like the way they dress in London and Paris.
I've never had a body image issue. I've owned my body at every level because no one ever told me I wasn't beautiful, even if they thought it. Plus, what would the world be like if we all looked the same? My skin has always been soft and my smile wide and that's at ANY size. But I know men are visual creatures so to put your mind at ease, I'm currently training for another marathon (ran one in 2011).
I'm looking for someone with heart, integrity, a great sense of humor, and who loves life. There's so much to do and it would be great to find the right partner to share those experiences with.
Let's see, I can be stubborn, sometimes I drive too fast, I procrastinate, I can overthink things, and I love to cook, but I hate to wash dishes. But I'm very funny, I look for the beauty in everything, I forgive easily, I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong, and I'm incredibly loyal to those I love. I have heart.
