About Me
I've lived in Victoria since 2004 and love it here. I'm about halfway through my PhD in Computer Engineering (~2 years left), after which I hope to get a teaching position at a college or university.
I'm getting into running again after a 6-month hiatus. I ran the TC10k this April for the 3rd time, and I'll be running the Victoria half-marathon for my second time this coming October.
I'd like to find someone who enjoys getting outside for some running, cycling, hiking, or even just a walk around downtown, but also enjoys an evening of staying in, cooking a nice meal together, and snuggling on the couch.
I think my friends would describe me as intelligent, honest, funny, modest, and reliable. I'd say that I am well grounded, easy-going, and sometimes nerdy (hey, it comes with being an engineer!). I've always been more of a listener than a talker, so I tend to come off as the silent type at times, but in the right situations I am very outgoing.
Some random info, in no particular order:
- I don't have a pet, but I like most animals. The most unique/awesome pets our family ever had were sugar gliders (if you've never heard of them, look up some images on Google, they're cute little things!). I like both cats & dogs, but if I had to pick it would be dachshunds all the way!
- A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away (ie: back in high school), I played the clarinet, bass clarinet, and baritone sax. I've been (very slowly) teaching myself to play piano over the past several years.
- I'm a middle child (the best kind!)
- Born and raised in BC (hence the username). I grew up in the Okanagan/Kootenays. The one downside to living in Victoria is that I miss being surrounded by mountains, though the ocean is nice too!
