About Me
Hello Internet!
I've met plenty of interesting people since moving from Halifax to Toronto and have had plenty of good times. What has been missing however are deeper and more intimate connections. I would love to find someone to share time and passions with and develop a close bond with.
I'd also like them to be quirkier than average, which brings me here!
I'm a pretty happy person and things are pretty good in my life right now. I have a stable career with a major international company and while I'm always busy at work I make sure that it doesn't take control of my personal life. I am living in Downtown Toronto at the moment and enjoying the connivence of having everything so close. I grew up in a much more rural area however (living on a lake and in among the trees) and do miss that lifestyle. Eventually I want to move out of the city to be closer to nature again.
One of the things I've learned living in the city is just how important nature and the outdoors are! I've only managed to get away camping once this year, but want to get away more once spring rolls around again. I love getting out on weekends to some of the trails and conservation areas outside the city for some hiking. Its always fun to have people with me, but I also head out on my own when no one is free.
I practice my own personal spirituality which is important to me. In university a couple of my friends were interested in careers in the Christian Church. I realized rather quickly that Christianity is not for me, but you can't define who you are by what your not, so I've taken time for self discovery, exploring my own beliefs and expanding my understanding and connection to the world around me. Its still a work in progress and what has drawn me most is a mix of pre-christian Celtic ideas (with their deep connection to the natural world) with some of the philosophy of Buddhism.
I've been working on living a less materialistic life for both philosophical and practical reasons. I'd like to think its a conscious effort but a career in retail may have something to do with it (retail overload!). I'd much prefer to use my resources for "living" rather than "having". I have enough stuff.
I've also given up TV for the most part. I still have a TV and will watch movies, documentaries or sports from time to time, but I am cable free. Giving it up has certainly been eye opening. I'm happier without it however.
Last year one of my friends introduced me to Hot Yoga, which has been amazing! I generally go once a week and love the feeling during and after. Its such a great way to be in the moment and connect to my body in a more conscious way.
So now the fun part: what I am looking for. I'm actually open to a lot of different things, so the list below isn't an all inclusive checklist, just some interesting ideas.
I'd love someone thats into being outdoors. I got back into camping this year and want to do more of it. I would love to have a companion for hiking or just to spend time on the beach during summer. I like connecting with nature and need time away from the urban environment to be happy. Having someone to join me makes it even better!
It would be nice to find someone into yoga, as it would be something to share and be motivated for.
I've always loved athletic girls (although its not a requirement). Thankfully i'm not threatened by a girl that is stronger or more muscular than I am (although I'm amused by those guys that are).
I tend to like a spiritual girl. We may not notice or take it for granted but our beliefs and ideas define so much of our lives. I find being open to the spiritual side of life makes it more understandable and enjoyable.
Happy Fishing!
