About Me
Well hello! Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you did...right now you're figuring out whether to message me, flirt (I recently found out that girls get that option--what happened to equality!?), click the 'Meet Me' or 'Oh God NO' button, or just keep on clicking through profiles. If you take the time to read through you might just like what you see. I know that I'm a catch...the question is whether or not I'm the right catch for you and vice versa!
I work for a nonprofit organization. We do waterway education and conservation. Think Google Streetview for rivers. We are mapping every river in the country so you can log in and see what it looks like firsthand. Now put it on your phone like Instagram and connect it to Facebook so you can share your river adventures with all your friends. Ambitious to say the least but we are making it happen. I'm also building a youth outreach program to get foster kids and underprivileged youth out on the water learning surfing, kayaking, and standup paddleboarding. We're also putting together a program that will take disabled veterans out on wilderness trips to help ease their transition back into civilian life. Think outdoor therapy. It keeps me busy to say the least...
In addition to this, I decided to go back to school for environmental engineering. I'm focusing on alternative fuels and ways to take waste products that we have and turn it into either an energy source or a commodity that can be reused effectively instead of ending up in a landfill. To get an idea look up something called Inhabitat on Facebook. It's along those lines...
In what spare time I have, I mostly find myself in the outdoors. Hiking, camping, surfing, standup paddleboarding, backpacking, and generally exploring southern California. I can also be found inside...art galleries, live music shows, bookstores, thrift shops, and places with spectacular food and beverages. I can be a wine snob but I prefer craft beer. I also like down time with the right person...on the couch, catching up on Netflix or the DVR. I squeeze in reading when I can. I will be conversational in French by the end of the year, and in Spanish or Italian by the end of 2013. It's gonna happen.
I'm somewhat well traveled, with places in Europe, Africa, and the Pacific Rim. My next destination will be South America or New Zealand.
If you've gotten this far, and you are interested, you should say something. I'm a strong personality, appreciate directness, and am looking for the same in my would-be partner in crime. Looking forward to hearing from you! Slainte!
