About Me
I am a 69 year old divorced white male seeking companionship for local hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. I retired 3/1/2011 and have plenty of time to devote to my love of the outdoors. I occasionally hike with organized groups but I prefer more solitude and quite than you usually get in a group of 15 to 30 people. By myself I hike at a moderate pace – usually 1 ½ to 2 miles per hour. I stop often to enjoy the scenery and views!
I am 5’ 10” 160 lbs. and in good health. I live by myself in Alameda, CA. I was born and raised in the LA area. I have lived in the Bay Area since 1969 (with a couple of years here and there in other locations for job reasons – which gave me the opportunity to hike extensively in the Appalachian Mountains and the Olympics). Local favorite areas are Mt. Tam, Point Reyes, Santa Cruz mountains, and Big Sur area. I have very little experience hiking in the East Bay but would love to meet someone who does. Camping and hiking trips in the Sierra’s are also on my horizon. I have limited experience in kayaking and white water rafting but have enjoyed what I have done.
Other interest include: volunteer work (especially working with Vet’s as I am a Viet Nam war vet), classical music, movies, reading, and traveling. I have a professional education (sorry – I am a licensed Cal Attorney) and have worked in a number of unique non-legal fields. I have traveled extensively throughout the Pacific and Alaska for my work.
I would like to meet women who like outdoor activities and are adventurous and open minded and like to share their thoughts and interests. I am politically “liberal” – if that really means anything anymore. I no longer spend much time on politics but do continue to support more Democratic than Republican candidates.
I have no children and both of my parents are deceased. I have 3 sisters, 5 nieces and nephews, and 7 grand nieces and nephews.
I have a comfortable retirement income but I am not “wealthy”. I would prefer meeting for coffee or lunch first to talk about mutual outdoor experiences and interests and possibly plan a local hike or walk.
