Moved to Austin in '07 from KC for work. It's a pretty hip place. I'm updating this to help narrow the scope. The buckshot approach is failing miserably.
The perfect guy for me is going to agree with the overwhelming majority of things on the list that follows.
Kind, smart, active, romantic, and attractive.
Kind: think not a douche.
Smart: think books and multi-syllabic words.
Active: think gym more than a couple times a week, and not only to hoop it up, as in actually takes amazing care of his physique with cardio AND weights.
Romantic: think The Adjustment Bureau or any trashy romance novel downloaded on Kindle.
Attractive: think hit on 7 times out of 10, as in woman actually coming up to you in a physical setting and batting their eyelashes laughing at jokes even you didn't realize were funny, hitting on you. Getting numbers or emailed first on this site doesn't count.
Being tall enough to reach things on the top shelf in the kitchen, and willing to save me from spiders (and other creepy crawlies), is definitely a plus. Continuing to read are major bonus points.
When I'm not working, I can lose hours scratching my cat's belly, reading something naughty, or people watching. I enjoy a good ballgame and a beer at Pluckers as much as a glass of wine at Eddie V's.
Here are some great conversation starters: What's your all time favorite movie? Can you narrow it down to one or do you have to go by genre?
When is the last time you went bowling? Roller skating? Fishing?
When was the last time you found yourself laughing hysterically?
What was the last awesome thing you did for someone else? Not related to you.
Here are my answers:
Movie: Xanadu. Don't know why. Followed by Tombstone.
Bowling: 2009. It was a date. I bowled 80. It was a good night. I can't roller skate. Haven't fished since I was a tween.
Laughter: watching Jarrod Carmichael on HBO. Great guy.
Selfless act: a good friend of mine is driving my new car right now bc her fifteen yr old clunker finally died. The car doesn't even have plates yet it's so new.
Most people enjoy being around me more than not and say my laugh is infectious, so I will consider that a compliment. Life should be about making the most positive impact you can, for as many people as possible, for as long as possible.
High rise or house?
Wealth or respect?
25 or 45?
Sofia Vergara or Jennifer Lopez?
Nia Long or Halle Berry?
As I think of more, I'll add.
Let's go to Reds and fire some rounds, go shoot darts at Fast Eddy's, or meet up at Starbucks and try to guess what patrons are drinking.
