The biggest reason I'm on this site is to meet people. Between work and life, I'm finding it more difficult to actually meet people (specifically single people) on a regular basis. So, here I am. I know the intent thing only has a few choices, and I am seriously looking for a relationship, but I'm certainly not opposed to friendship or casual dating. If things work out, great, and if not, nothing ventured, nothing gained. (sorry for the cliche and the wall of text you are about to see)
I think I should expand a bit more about myself, my lifestyle, and my preferences, since drop-down menus can only tell you so much...I live by myself, have a car, know how to cook, and have a job. I have a cat and a bird as pets, both of which are very sweet and loving, except when they're not. The bird might decide it hates you, and the cat has a tendency to pounce/bite "playfully" without warning, but I still enjoy their company. I work an off-schedule, so I'm not always free to do what I'd like on weekends, which absolutely blows. I work in the IT (information technology) field, and I quite like what I do for work. Like most jobs, there are good days as well as bad, but it's rewarding in its own way. I've deviated a bit from my field of study (geology), so, I plan on attending graduate school for IT. The idea is to get a masters degree within the next 3 years.
I'm a smoker. At least, I assume the question is referring to cigarettes (who the hell smokes cigarettes occasionally?!?). I'd like to say I'm quitting soon, but I'd be lying. I've tried several times, but find myself smoking some months down the line. I'm 420 friendly, though I don't partake. I tend to have a beer or two regularly, but I'm not sure that constitutes saying I drink often. I'm getting into home-brewing (have had a few very nice batches with more on the way), and I like to try out the local varieties. I like sharing the resulting brews with family and friends. My ultimate dream is to own/operate a brewery. As for drugs, I don't do them, and I'm not particularly interested in meeting with people that do. Sorry, I'm looking to add some complication to my life, but I don't want that kind of complication.
I have an awful lot of interests. Some I've probably forgotten about in the interests section. Basically, I like pretty much anything in the outdoors. Except ice fishing, seriously, no thanks... Oh, and tennis....When I travel/hike/camp, I always bring my camera equipment. Love photography, though I'm really only okay at landscape, I do try to dabble in other types of photography. Music I probably another huge interest of mine, I initially went to college for a music degree. That didn't really work out, but I still love it. I can play drums, guitar, tuba, trombone, and I can sort-of play a bunch of other instruments. I've got the setup to record, but rarely ever do. My musical tastes vary depending on what I'm into at the time, but my current favorite bands are Emery, Rise Against, Foreground Eclipse, Epica, and Symphony X. Just saw 311 and Cypress Hill, was pretty amazing. There's really only one genre I don't think I will ever like, and that is country...I don't like rap, but I like it a hell of a lot more than country. I like working with my hands, building things (wood, leather, chainmail, etc...), painting (not for art purposes because I suck at that), working on my own car, drawing, as I find working on something tangible to be relaxing and rewarding. When I get the space for it, I'd like to make my own guitars. I don't do that kind of stuff all the time, but I do find myself doing those things occasionally. I enjoy playing sports. I'm very much into anime, though not to the exclusion of American TV (think Dexter, GoT, Fringe). I'm one of those weirdos you'll see in costume at Anime Boston (when I can get that weekend off work). I've been reading classic literature lately, though I did also finish reading the Song of Ice and Fire series. I also list that I'm into gaming, though, I don't think it would be fair to say I'm a gamer. I'm pretty lazy about actually playing the games I have. I've got a PS2 and PS3, as well as PC games, but I'm never really motivated to play them (I sit in front of a monitor pretty much all day at work).
Family and friends are very important to me. I love seeing them when I can, but, sadly, I'm a bit dislocated from where I grew up. I've got a few friends in the area, but it's tough with my schedule, and needing to plan several hours of driving into a visit. I recently became an uncle, which I'm pretty stoked about. I'm the middle child, though, only by default because of being a twin that was born 2 minutes after my bro. We're identical, or close enough that it should be kind of funny should you ever meet him (even his wife has slipped up once or twice XD )
I had to chose the "average" body type, as I'm not really sure where to draw the line between slim and athletic. I'm no Greek god, nor am I just a bag of skin and bones. Rather, I've got the body type that will probably keep me at the lower end of a healthy weight for my height (I'm about 150 lbs at 5'10") with some sort of muscle definition. Not bulky, rock solid, or squishy. Speaking of body types, I have my ideals in a partner of course, but I'm also realistic. You don't need a supermodels body for me to be interested in you, but I do have to draw a line somewhere. I know this is shallow, but I would be lying if I said I'd be happy with a partner that was larger than me. Taller is fine, but I'm sorry, that's how I wired.
Well, if I haven't scared you away yet, then I would probably like to meet you :D I'm a pretty laid back guy. I've got this app on my phone, so I treat the email a bit like texting. If I don't get back to you right away, I'm not trying to be rude. I don't always respond right away as my phone isn't always on my person. Furthermore, I find texting/messaging to be a whole new level of awkward with people you don't know. I'm not saying we should meet right away, but I would prefer a face to face conversation over text. I just don't feel that chemistry/romance/feelings can properly be conveyed with just the alphabet and emoticons...maybe it's just me.
If you'd like to know more about me, feel free to ask. I'm pretty open about a lot of things in my life. Good luck fishing, unless your ice fishing, because seriously, **** that.
