Hello. My name is Rachel. I'm 28 have completed college and grad school. I have spent the last three years trying to get into a PhD program to become an English Lit professor. So far no luck, but my academic career has taken me to conferences around the country. I got to go to Comic Con in San Diego this past July for free and met Matt Groening, the creator of the Simpsons who drew Bart on my name badge and autographed it for me. Probably one of the greatest moments of my life.
I work teaching English as a Second Language in the seedier part of Sacramento. It is a challenging job because I have students who are in 1st grade and every grade to 10th. So many kids with so many different subjects how all need help at the same time can be very stressful.
I've never been much of a bar girl or a club girl. I would rather spend my free time hanging out with my friends, watching movies or tv, or playing on my PS3 or Wii. After a long frustrating day, it can be a real relief to come home, turn on the tv and kill things for a little while.
The other thing I feel people should know about me is that I am imperfect. Who isn't right? Well I have a neurological condition which causes pain and makes me pretty ornery some times. I say this upfront because I always feel awkward trying to figure out when to put in to the conversation that I have this illness which there is as yet no cure for. However, I am optimistic and keep my fingers crossed and my hopes up.
(Note: I am not looking for a father figure. Please don't message me if you are a decade or more older than I am. Also, don't get angry if you do and I reject your advances. Nothing against older men, just not my cup of tea.)
