Hey peeps. I'm originally from Baltimore. I'm working on my long term plan for financial freedom and lifelong residual income. I graduated college in NYC and moved to L.A. a few years ago. I'm here on the west coast for the entertainment industry (of course, right?) It's actually going well. I'm researching grad school options these days, along with working, and my artistic endeavors. I work at an up and coming restaurant in one of the busiest parts of downtown Los Angeles. I also do promotions, and have a few other sources of income. (I don't believe in relying on one source of income anymore, especially in this economy) Some of my passions are singing, playing piano, songwriting/screenwriting, socio-political/socio-economic issues, and more. I learned as a bartender to keep religion and politics out of most conversations, though. Everybody is not about that life!!
I'm usually good at making people laugh, and viewing things from different perspectives. I'm into tennis, football, basketball, and most sports except hockey. I love sports and physical fitness. I like to get my sweat on! I'm not fitness crazed, but I'm really into it.
I love to read. I'm basically working on improving myself mentally, spiritually, physically. I'm just out here living my dream, enjoying life, and making things happen. Also, I love the beach, and nature. There's nothing more therapeutic for me than music, nature, meditation, yoga, exercise. I'm trying to be more Green! I'm also interested in exploring certain Eastern philosophies and how they can be applied to life in the U.S.
I'm a black dude with no kids, no criminal record, and no tattoos. Yeah.....I said that!
Also, being from Bmore, I am a Ravens fan. (Still basking in our recent Superbowl win! yay baby!!) If you're a Steelers fan, we can still work it out if you have a great personality......maybe....
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently a working actor (still have the survival job though), along with playing piano, creating and implementing my financial plan for success! I'm planning on grad school in the future, but my artistic career is going well so acquiring more debt with have to be put on the backburner for now. Networking, weighing grad school options, taking classes. Outside of the arts I also work with autistic children, and in the hospitality industry. Most of my "regular" job background is corporate america. I got sucked into corporate america after graduating college. 8 yrs later I now know why I'm here and what I'm supposed to do. The arts is a noble profession that should inspire the intellect, culture, progression. It gives society a refuge to get away from their problems. It's a vehicle that I will use to move humanity forward. I may sound like a bit of an idealist. Kinda sorta, but kinda sorta not! I'm also slowly but surely working on fluency in Spanish.....I also just finished my first original song composition on piano. Music, just like life, is a journey, not a destination.
I don't ask for much. I like women that have intelligence and a sense of humor. (aren't us men folk simple?) Also, ladies, if you check my page out and like it, feel free to say hi. It's 2014 and there's nothing wrong with a woman being assertive and going after what she wants!
As far as music, I like everything from jazz/latin jazz to hip hop to rock, classical, movie soundtracks, salsa, and everything in between lol. I like all genres, except that the only country music that I like is Johnny Cash and a little Willie Nelson. I play piano, sing, and am trying to step my songwriting game up.
Books: Songs My Mother Taught Me, The Sirens of Titan, Slaughterhouse 5, Shakespeare's Complete Works, The Celestine Prophecy, Self-Management for Actors, The 48 Laws of Power, Revolutionary Suicide, Save the Cat, The Elizabethan Underworld, The Secret, Buddhism Without Beliefs, Stella Adler: The Art of Acting, Sanford Meisner, and too many more to name now. I'll update later.
Music: I study and play music in my free time. I like everything from Led Zeppelin to Beethoven to Wutang to Fela Kuti to Bill Evans, Nas, The Doors, Sara Bareilles, Esperanza Spaulding, Fiona Apple, and everything in between. Seriously my musical interests would take too much time to write down!
TV-again, this would take forever, but some of my current favorites that are still on TV are Dexter, Breaking Bad, Shameless, Weeds, Modern Family, Arrested Development, Family Guy, SNL.
BTW I am a LEO, not a Cancer. POF messed up on that!
