I've had a profile here on POF for some time now. The experience has had it's up and downs. What you're reading now has to be the hardest part of this whole process. The words we use while speaking carry a mere 7% of the message, leaving body language and tone the vast majority of what's implied. Please consider the following to be: Honest, Insightful, Witty, Cute, Creative, or just Good Enough.
I'm a coal miner.
Already you've stereotyped me. I can understand. We have a bad reputation and, for the most part, It's deserved. Miners or Oilfield workers tend to have limited respect for the environment, money and even each other at times. I would add women to that list, but that seems a little anti-competitive here. Sure, I'm in it for the money, but I try not to waste it. I take my work seriously and intend to earn my pay each day. Always motivated, I am a certified Mine Rescue member, Safety rep, on the training committee and relief for the Foreman when he's off. I also take an active role in promoting standards that keep the environment a priority. Though it's difficult to convince some not to litter with such a strong rebuttal as "It's a coal mine." I hope you would have the same respect for your employer.
I hope you can believe all that. If so, this next part may seem contradictory. Feel free at any time to refer the the first paragraph.
I'm NOT a workaholic. A work/life balance is key. I don't carry debt and have no worries about retirement. Wealth is subjective and I promise a lifetime of it to my family. Am I getting ahead of myself here?
Still with me? Weird. Okay, what are we going to do? I like just about any reason to get out of the house. I have the Edson-required side-by-side and dirt bikes but I can get just as much enjoyment out of a game of Monopoly. Just NO free parking (non-negotiable). Despite my frequent attempts to surf, they are usually just excuses to go somewhere warm. According to my friends I take bowling too seriously, so we'll avoid that. A latte or beer somewhere we can share some stories.
Send me a quick message if you'd like to know more about me. If you're shy, just say "hey." There are no commitments implied if you message me and I'd like to know how my profile reads to you. Good or bad. Live in Edmonton? No problem, I frequent the city.
Are they ever going to give this site a facelift? It's like the Craigslist guys are behind POF.
