"...all the right ways"
Yeah, Pink may be a top-40 singer, but I bow down to the sentiment of being wrong in all the right ways. I love humorist David Sedaris and his sister Amy Sedaris (Jerri Blank on "Strangers with Candy") for that very reason, as well as the many characters I have encountered in life.
Let's get something out of the way. I like to cook. I am pretty much of the opinion that any savory dish can be improved with a little smoky bacon. Picture homemade macaroni and cheese, studded with pancetta and served with a badass syrah. As you can see, the simple things in life matter to me: a good cup of coffee, brunch with friends, a beautiful day, a great meal. I love art, but can function with technology. I love, love, love wine. I am a total grape geek who wouldn't mind a little side career down in Napa.
I have two goals that I would like to accomplish over the next three years: start publishing writing and traveling to at least one country on my wish list in particular: Spain (Barcelona), Vietnam, Argentina, France (Provence), and Piedmont in Italy. I want to take more risks in life, and would love to meet a man I can take rock climbing classes with or go traveling with.
The older I become, the more I find myself drawn to writing and stories, the potency of the written word. I value both family and fun. I am also utterly thankful for the internet, as my sister's influence on my musical taste veered too far toward the likes of Lionel Richie when I was young. These days, I just plug in my headphones, go to last.fm or the likes and let my taste meander. I can listen to jazz like Ella Fitzgerald to Radiohead to the country duo Sugarland to my old high school days when Metallica was a mainstay. I think the Rat Pack is the best road music.
Be forewarned, I love making friends with people. I like to count my ex boyfriends amongst my friends, and I am glad that I can do so without hesitation. I am interested in a person's tastes and opinions. I love learning new things. My humor tends toward the snarky and sarcastic. I loved old school comedians like George Carlin and Richard Pryor, and (relatively) new school Chris Rock, Louie C.K., and Denis Leary. I admit it; the more incisive, the cruder, the more I love 'em. Yes, I try to meld my tastes with my meditation practice (as it is).
My first date? Hmmm, that is a toughie! I like a wide variety of activities, so for me, this could be something as diverse as going to a museum, dinner, wine tasting, coffee, or going for a walk outside. I love classic drinks, live music or sports(watching basketball, soccer, or hockey live). I guess the real question is what kind of a first date wouldn't I want to go on? Probably sky diving...yeah, I have to say that we'd have to save sky diving for later, along with a valium (notice I am not ruling it out completely...).
