About Me
I agree with many people, writing about oneself is hard. It requires looking inside and trying to accurately describe who you are. I wonder if that is even possible to relay anything beyond “I like hiking”, “My favorite comfort food is a Strawberry Surf Rider from Jomba Juice.” and “I have blue eyes.” Well, I would like to try.
Let me start with this phrase: I am a NorCal man living in SoCal.
Here are the “cliff notes” for those who are looking for a quick scan: I try to be a Renaissance man (jack-of-all-trades). I am artsy (play music, act, and tech theatre), a bit of a geek (Video games, movies, computers), spiritual (shamanism, natural remedies), love nature and being in it, am easy to talk to, enjoy helping people, but above all I am looking for great experiences to have so I can tell those stories for years to come.
An old mentor of mine once told me that we are all broken in some way but the same experiences throughout our life that break us also form us into who we are. Just because we are not perfect or fully healed, does not mean we should hide from living life. We should embrace it, accept who we are right now, see where we want to be, and walk in that direction. Along the way you will find a fellow traveler with matching baggage and that weight shared between you will form a bond unlike any other.
Maybe true chivalry isn’t dead, maybe it is just harder to find? It may not always be evident in my driving, but I believe in chivalry. I strive to be what is called a spiritual warrior and try to walk what the Lakota call “the red road.” It means living by a warrior’s code, an unwritten path to live one’s life. You can “feel” when something is wrong and I try to cultivate my awareness so I can better feel my way through life. I also believe in things greater than me, whether acknowledged or not I am still a part of a greater whole. Aho Mitakuye Oyasin. (We are all related, all in “relation.”)
I have been greatly blessed in my life. I have quested in two traditional Lakota vision quests. Even though I have had visions, integrating them into my life has been a difficult path, part probably due to my own resistance to change. But I do know part of my path in life. I am here to support others… holding space, listening, massaging, helping, healing, grounding, balancing. Even though I have no Native American blood of my own, I was included by a native shaman in his community and taught about Lakota and Toltec ways. After eight years of walking this path, I have but started it. I have shared in wonderful ceremonies such as attending sweat lodges as well as fire keeping for them, watched and supported naming ceremonies and healings, both vision quested and supported others on their questing. I have been fortunate enough to meet native medicine people and spiritual leaders from many walks of life and had the opportunity to hear their stories. As well as respecting the land I walk upon by following its people’s path, I also try to walk the path of my ancestors. When I first was budding spiritually, I found that the ways of the Scandinavians drew me. Through this belief, I have discovered the power of runes as a device of inner reflection and it also lead me to the native shaman I followed later.
Currently I am returning to college for a degree in Theater, specializing in Theatre Technology and Production/Stage Management. I am always excited to continue to expand my knowledge as I love the feeling of being part of live performances in every way. While I am returning to school, I work as a massage therapist and an audio/video technician. I also act in a commedia del arte style troupe and play percussion for group of singers.
I enjoy helping people. I believe that my choices in life and the jobs I have worked work reflect that, though it may not be apparent when you first look at them. I have enjoyed testing and designing video games, installed security systems, served at an Italian restaurant, set up equipment for simultaneous interpretation in a few different countries, performed on stage, teched for theatre, stage managed and been a massage therapist. I have enjoyed each job for different reasons and been glad for the experiences they have taught me.
I believe that good days don't just happen, they are created. I am here to create wonderful days and experiences in my life. So… Create your wonderful day.
First Date
I am up for just about anything that allows me to learn more about you.
The best dates I find have a quieter setting and allow for walking or hiking at some point.
Message me if you are looking to share an adventure or a journey, whether it is for a lifetime or even if it is just to the beach or a show. I want to share the experiences of life with someone, explore myself and explore the great depth and beauty of a relationship. And really, all great relationships start with a good story, one that you can tell your grandkids 40 years from now. So lets do something that is worthy of such a story.
