About Me
Ahhh, how do you describe yourself? So many people seem to have no problem doing it; I'm not one of them. I find this very difficult.
So here I am single at 46. Not where I pictured myself, or where I want to be, but it is reality. I believe that you are not defined by what happens to you, but rather how you react to what happens to you. So chin up, let’s make the best of it.
I spend most of my time and energy being dad to my three great kids. The routine is 'probly familiar: Up and ready for school, work, dinner, homework, dishes, laundry, showers, bed then I'm more than ready for bed. Not much fun time for dad, but I love it just the same.
OK, so I am clearly not good at this, so maybe I'll just spit out stuff as I think of it:
I have a great job that I love as an engineering manager. I am probably a freak of nature because I don't follow sports at all; I'm just not interested. I'd rather take my kids camping or skiing than spend time watching a game. I have spent a lot of time volunteering in my community, everything from heading citizen advisory committees to being an EMT. I’m a home improvement do it yourselfer. I enjoy working on my own home, and my rental property. I like to camp, enjoy sitting around the campfire either in my back yard, or on our campground. I consider myself very blessed; life has been very good to me. I was a dance instructor for quite a few years. One of my new hobbies is 4 wheeling around the property. I love to laugh. I enjoy someone that can take a good ribbing, and can dish it right back. I like to take walks after dinner. I would like to do more outdoor activities, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, or something else that I haven’t even thought of yet. I sometimes like the beach, but I prefer the mountains. I like dogs, I’m not a big cat fan. I love mob movies. I’m like a wide variety of food, and am not a bad cook. I don’t smoke. I drink very little. I hate drama. I like to keep my house clean. I know what it means to be faithful, and am looking for someone else that does.
What am I looking for? Long term I want to be married again. Preferably to someone who is faithful, funny, outgoing, intellectually stimulating, and most of all, my best friend. But, in the short term it’s just too early for me to think about being in a serious relationship. I figure everyone is worth knowing, so right now I’m thinking that it’s time to just start dating and meeting people. Sooner or later hopefully I’ll trip across the right one.
Music: My musical taste is very eclectic. I really like classic country and western swing along with classic rock, Michael Buble and Dean Martin. But, you will find a wide variety of stuff on my hardrive, here is a very small sample: Stevie Wonder, Asleep at the Wheel, Clint Black, K D Lang, Brian Setzer, The Mavericks, Buck Cherry, ZZ Top, Van Morrison, Tom Jones, The Eagles, Simon and Garfunkle, Rod Stewart, Al Green, Barry White, Charlie Rich, Chicago, Cream, Nat King Cole, Merle Haggard, Hall and Oats, Frankie Vallie. See, I told you it was eclectic. Sorry, I don’t like rap.
If you are still reading, I am impressed. One more thing, in retirement I plan to spend a great deal of time traveling the US in an top notch RV. I have a nice one now, but I plan to have a rolling home nice enough to spend long periods of time exploring the nations magnificent parks and the splendor of our country. Think Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Grand Canyon, Mammoth Cave, and lots more. Of course I hope to share it with that special someone.
OK, if you are really still reading, then either you can’t stop because the depth of my geekiness mesmerizes you, or just possibly I may have amused you. If so, tell me about yourself. - Scott
