Music is the heart of life. Sing it, hum it, whistle, and dance all around. So much for ennui!
I grew up in the age of radio and have a world of music in my head: Mario Lanza, Ella Fitzgerald, The Inkspots, Sachmo . . . all influenced my preferences.
This is my last great hurrah. Everything is within my grasp. I am taking guitar lessons, learning to play with acrylics, doing character studies of jazz musicians, listening to classical music, immersing myself in the tub with an armload of magazines, planning a trip, volunteering, buying myself flowers, putting whipped cream in my coffee, and dancing. I'm almost used to living alone, and my life is full and joyful, except . . . I miss the fullness of life with a compatible man.
I have dance partners now and then, but mostly I dance with my shadow until you catch up with me. Quickly, now! I'm as young as I'll ever be, and the world awaits our foolery.
WHILE I WAIT FOR YOU: I swim, workout at the gym, and take dance lessons to refresh old skills, join me? I enjoy live performances, hike, explore museums, farmers' markets, and travel. I do all this alone, but I'm here to find a compatible soul to dance with mine. (Yours?) Compatibility is the most important concept. I am, as they said of Winston Churchill, " . . . easily satisfied with the best."
I don't believe in love-at-first-sight. Love sometimes sneaks up on you. Attraction is a good beginning.
MY PERFECT MATCH: An easy-going man for intelligent conversation, redwood walking, strolling foreign shores, dancing, ice-cream licking, enjoying the arts, comparing books, wordplay, and the midnight giggles. A gentle man who will not see different political or religious preferences as a source of discord.
You're a bit of a romantic who can see humor in most situations. You also know when to be serious. Book lover? Music lover? Do you have dancing feet? Dancing is fun, but not obligatory, if everything else works for us.
I've had more than nine professional lives: data processing, legal secretary, realtor, rental management, civil service, direct sales, ceramist, silversmith, writer, editor, 15-year publisher of the best artist/artisan resource magazine in the northeast you never heard of. I led workshops for beginning artists to help them with display, pricing, tax issues, etc. I've been a literacy volunteer until recently; now I compile the newsletter for the local jazz society.
Oh, I forgot to say, - I bait my own hook, and do expert sheet-rock and plaster repair. Want to know more? Ask!
Recently I've traveled to Hong Kong, Italy, Greece, and the Greek Islands, a cruise to Alaska with my dance group last July. What could be sweeter? Well, if you were with me . . .
We moved 3,000 miles from NY to live near my son and grandchildren. I enjoy spontaneous hugs and potluck meals, but we don't live in each other's pockets.
How will we meet?
How will we recognize the person inside, behind the face we show the world?
Let's meet and watch the shadows grow long.
I'D JUST LIKE TO ADD:
Let's talk about things that don't fit in these database fields: friends, families, memories, ambitions, itineraries . . . A good relationship doesn't demand we be twins, just compatible. We are all imperfect.
