The thing I’m most passionate about is traveling. Sure, the occasional day trip or weekend get away is great, but it’s the big overseas trips that I get really excited about. I’ve found that the places that I’ve been so far are those places that I never thought I’d get a chance to see. It seems like I always have a ‘next trip’ plan bubbling away in the back of my head.
I hike and go camping, and while I enjoy them, they’re not things I do every weekend. I enjoy white water rafting, but generally only go once a year.
Let’s see, some other things. I like to cook; I find it relaxes me at the end of the day. I’m not confident enough, though, to just throw things together and see what happens, I’m a big one for cookbooks.
I read the newspaper daily (okay, I don’t get the newspaper, but I read the news online daily). I’m relatively well informed about what’s going on in the world, though American news sources are not nearly as global as others that I’ve seen when traveling. We’re very egocentric in this country – and it seems California is worse than most. So, I guess I should say I’m up on current events that are seen fit to make it to CNN. Embarrassingly enough I don’t know the names of the leaders of most, if not all, the countries of Europe, or Canada or Mexico (I really need to look those last two up).
I can't spell. Have a dog. Would love to take up horseback riding again. Am close with my family. Have a long list of home improvement projects that I'm trying to check off. Like to garden. Love home improvement stores. Enjoy road trips. Love Disneyland. Like to camp. Really enjoy photography. Enjoy taking hikes. Like live theater (California Shakespeare season ticket holder for eleven years now). And a bunch of other things I can't think of right now.
I run, or at least I try to. I've run two half marathons and am considering doing it again. I'm never going to win any races, but was surprised how much fun I had while running over 13 miles.
Good grief, there are an awful lot of ‘I’ statements in there. What about ‘you.’ For me the number one most important thing is a non-smoker. Oh, and drug use. I don’t want that around me, either. Aside from that I’m pretty flexible. You really need to get to know a person before making judgments so I don’t have a list of ‘must like/dislike’ or 'must look like/not look like'. Differences make us more interesting. I would like to be with someone that wants to travel as much as I do. I think it’s great to be able to share something like that with your partner. A sense of humor is important. Please, be able to laugh at yourself.
I did want to mention a couple of things. I've lost about 60 pounds in the last year and a half or so. I don't know if that would throw people off or not but I figured i should mention it. Secondly, I'll be honest, I've not dated much. I've been very comfortable with my life and it's never been a priority for me. I guess my priorities are changing and I'm trying to get out there more.
So, I guess that’s me. A nice person who loves to travel, lives a quiet life, that’s nice to children and is (mostly) well informed on current events.
