I am a younger than my age, irreverent, gentle, intellectual, fun-loving man. I am an avid golfer and enjoy youth hockey (actually all hockey),love farm dogs and farms, and enjoy being in the woods. I like taking trips, but not hotels. I am on a mission to retire to the Southwestern US, so battles with winters are numbered.
I listen mostly to older rock&roll, but it definitely depends on the mood, and talk radio fills the air a lot.
What I am looking for: One single woman who wants to plan/work toward a fun, active retirement. A woman who is not in competition with the rest of the world, who is impressed by what her man says/does, not what he wears/drives. I want a truly grounded partner, not a follower. I put a ton of miles on my car, and really like to let the mind wander during conversation while getting where we're going. I am a pretty good cook, and like that time spent preparing meals to be fun with discovery. I'm not interested in re-living my twenties, but rather showing the twenty-somethings that I'm not dead yet.
I'm a do-it-yourselfer (including some doctoring), but I know when to call in the pros. I can hold an intelligent conversation with anybody from anywhere and am known to strike up a conversation at unpredictable moments. If someone is willing to shoot the s**t over the back of a pickup, I'm there. Investment bankers on the golf course? Let's talk. I find everyone fascinating, but none more than my 8 yr old son. He's big on full living, just like his dad.
I guess I'm searching for an active, adventurous woman who doesn't take life too seriously, but will be single-minded in their commitment to relationship and future. A woman who truly understands that the destination is only a part, and the getting there is the meat and potatoes. A plus if you play chess and sheepshead, or can teach me your games.
My family is scattered around the country, most are really fun, and eventually I'd like you to meet them.
Apparently there are a few fellas out there that have no idea of what it is to conduct themselves appropriately. I assure you gals that I am not one of those. I am a responsible, fun-loving guy, would never dream of being unfaithful, nor do I possess any inappropriate photos of myself. And to the best of my knowledge, no one else does, either.
Conversation Starters (i.e. what you'd like to do on a first date...)
I would discuss a first date setting with the other person, but I much prefer going out to do something, rather than going to watch something. Skating, hiking, frisbee?
Re-model something? Cut/plant trees? Negotiable.
