About Me
I’m very upbeat, energetic and social, and can find the humor in almost every situation. I'll definitely keep you laughing. I’m usually the instigator, getting folks stirred up and off the couch, or at least assembled and all on the same couch.
I bike a lot for both fun and fitness and do many organized charity rides in the area throughout the year, including the MS150. (a two day ride from Houston to Austin)
The newest hobby is country dancing and I’d love to find a good dance partner, or someone interested in learning. I started taking classes last year and have really enjoyed it. I usually go out dancing at least once a week with friends and always have a great time. (note - I do NOT do the hat and belt buckle thing! ; )
I really like to cook, and believe it or not, I’m actually pretty good at it! Good Eats and America’s Test Kitchen are in heavy rotation on the Tivo. I’m close to my family (especially my two super cute nieces) so Thanksgiving is usually at my house. I brine a pretty mean turkey!
I have a great career that I really, truly enjoy. It’s challenging, rewarding, and thankfully pretty recession proof. I paid my 60 hours week dues early on. Now they only get me for 40 - the rest is mine... or maybe ours?
My ideal match will be my best friend. Fun and exciting conversation is a must. While physical attraction is obviously very important, it's your personality and our interaction that is truly the key to developing a relationship that will last. Have a keen and open mind, an independent and outgoing personality, a sharp wit, a sly smile and eyes I can lose myself in!
for fun:
I really enjoy spending times with friends, be it catching up over a quick lunch, solving all the worlds problems over a pint or two, or throwing a BBQ & refusing to feed folks 'til they tell me how great the latest home improvement project looks ; )
my job:
Structural Engineer currently working on my Texas P. E. License. Once I'm licensed, I'll have the option of starting my own firm if want or need be. I do a little bit of traveling for work, but at most it’s once every few months for a couple of days.
my education:
BS from Iowa State (Go Cyclones!) Currently studying (mostly at work) for a 2 day 16 hour professional exam for my Texas state certification. Once that's done, I start working on those other 49 states ... and Canada (yipe!)
favorite hot spots:
Any bookstore, The Alamo Drafthouse, wandering the Riverwalk, the hammock on my patio, Terry Hershey Park, Little Woodrow’s, the couch with popcorn and a good movie, sleeping in when you're not supposed to and the Bellagio when the fountain goes off!
favorite things:
Churrascos steak, the green sauce at Chuy's, Calamari at Truluck's, Carbonara at D'Amico's... ok, now I'm hungry. I'm almost off TV as they keep canceling anything I get excited about, but I've gotten sucked into Lie to Me
last read:
I read the Chronicle everyday, starting with the most important section - the funnies. I like Tom Clancy, Stephen King, Larry Niven to name a few - currently reading the latest Cook's Illustrated Magazine and working on Clancy's 'Cardinal of the Kremlin'.
